Found a live louse on a kiddo today. Got some tape & grabbed it. Not sure why I thought I should keep looking for more, but I did. Found a second & was trying to grab it...looked at the tape & the first was gone!!! Looked quick in her hair to see if I could find it & I couldn't. WHERE DID IT GO?!?!?!?! IS IT ON ME?!?!?!?! :wideyed::nailbiting:

Before I became and school nurse, I worked OB/ Women's health. I can tell you this kind of thing does happen and seeing it makes your skin crawl for days and days afterwards!!!! UGGHGHGHGHGH

Yep, crabs or public lice. This is what gets the students in my sex ed classes to go "ewww" more than any other STI they learn about.

OK, I'm starting to itch now and I don't even have one of those things...:blink:

I have a vivid memory from grade school of two girls whose mom sent them to school with plastic grocery bags on their heads when there was a lice problem. My dad, who was dropping me off at school that day, got to witness it. He still makes fun of them.

So my son ended up with them. I am thankful for my school nurse experience as we would be freaking right now. I calmly drove to Wally World and got my Nix and combed through. Thankfully few nits and 4 bugs. I was even able to talk my Principal into NOT sending a note to parents. Progress!

I love parents like you! The nice ones that will reach out to me, treat their kids and request not a big deal be made of it - just continue on through our day :)

It was a little more self centered than that. Last outbreak was mostly staff kids. I didn't want it getting out that the school nurses' kid got it, that would have been ridiculous in the lice fear frenzy. I did check the small peer group to make sure.

It mated with a flea. Now we have flice. It can jump 10' in any direction and stick to whatever it lands on with its hooked feet. I sense a movie coming.

You should call the SyFy channel right away! I see a franchise possibility here...licenado, liceopus, robolice...why should the sharks get all the good movies?
