:confused:Hi everyone, I have a question. I am going to have a temp job with this agency that gives flu shot assignments to nurses in different States/cities. Their payroll method is something that I have never heard of. Has anyone ever been paid by "Mastercard Payroll card" before?? It seems like they would not issue a check and instead issue the card that I just mentioned. Before giving any information to receive a Mastercard payroll card, I was hoping I could find someone who has been paid through this method before. Please respond if you know anything about it.
Thank you so much.

I've never had that happen for payroll, but in PA if you don't have a bank account for direct deposit you get a MasterCard that they deposit your unemployment on to...

Ditto.... most places are trying to go paper-free.... It's like a giftcard- but a MasterCard, so you can use it at ATMs or like a debit card.

My daughter works for a newspaper in a large urban city and this is how they pay their employees now, b/c it is less expensive and prone to error than direct deposit, so they say. It is apparently catching on.

Yes, my hospital has a method of paying with this as well. I was also skeptical at first but it really is just as good as having direct deposit.

I worked for an agency that did it. It was quite convenient except I couldn't use it at the pump for gas. It also had fees for every withdrawal or non-signature debit. Those were the only downfalls. We found an ATM that only charged $1.50 per withdrawal and allowed up to $700.00 per day (at Walmart) so that solved the main issue for me.

Unless you had an option for it to transfer to your bank account without fee's I would be livid! I can't imagine having to pay some stupid ATM fee just to access my paycheck so my employer can save a couple dollars themselves. Passing that onto the employee is unconscionable

I have used this payment method before and I loved it !!! Especially when I worked at a place that paid their staff the same day ! I would get off at 7am, fax in my times sheet by 9am and have money on my card the same day at 2pm.

I agree! Using it for groceries or at the mall would be fine and dandy. But what about people that have bills to pay? I'd have to go to an ATM, pay a fee to access the money, then go deposit the money into my checking account, and then finally pay my bills? No, I wouldn't be happy.

You caould also use the card to pay your bills. As for fees, you already are paying fees to use your money that is deposited into your bank account.

I don't pay fees with my CU.
What about a mortgage or rent or car payment? Some places don't take credit cards for obvious reasons.

Illinois unemployment is a Chase debit Mastercard, but there is also a direct deposit option. The user can also go online and transfer funds or pay bills directly
