A&P1 vs A&P2

Published

Hi, am an LPN student starting in August. I would like to know everyone's opinion on whether A&P1 is harder than A&P 2?

Thanks

I thought A&P I and II were both difficult. Luckily I had a good professor. He gave us bonus point for writing 2 page papers on health related topics and he taught the class well. He even tested us like we will be tested in nursing school. Reading the chapters and having note cards helped me out a lot. Just stay focused and you'll get through it.

I thought they both equaled out together in difficulty. Both were awesome classes!

Our A&P I is integumentary, skeletal, muscular and nervous systems. We do anatomy AND physiology for those systems.

Then A&P II is endocrine, circulatory, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems; and fluid and electrolyte balance.

I'm taking A&P I right now, and comparing the two, I would say that II would be more challenging just because there is more information to cover.

In my personal experience, A&P I was tougher. By the time A&P II rolled around, I had a fairly decent knowledge base of the body. So A&P II was just building upon what I had just learned. I also knew what to expect from my Professor since I had just taken A&P I with him the semester before. :)

In my experience, A&P II was a lot harder. We studied A&P at the molecular, chemical and hormonal levels in A&P II. Plus, my instructor was an MD- a retired surgeon.

i didn't find one more difficult than the other, just a whole lot of memorization, of course i had an excellent teacher! i think it was easier for me because i absolutley loved the course. plus the teacher had all her notes for sale in our bookstore, so we just followed along and used a lot of highlighters and the tests were a breeze.

I thought that A&P I was harder, but I did have a cocky PhD grad student teach the lab and almost everyone did poorly in the lab portion. I thought that A&P II was much easier.

I thought A&P I was way tougher than A&P II. A&P I dealt more with cell structure...... ribosomes, mitochondria, etc. Besides it's the first class that deals with the human body. I enjoyed more A&P II.

My A&P I was mostly memorization with some physiology involved. A&P II was 95% physiology with the rest being simple memorization of some facts.

At my school, A&P II was definitely harder. We were told the first day to expect our grades to drop one letter grade. I'm not sure why, it should've been interesting....but it turned out to be a "power play" between the instructor and the students. We did have an oppurtunity for xtra credit, 30pts...which in a way wasn't fair to some. Some students did very well on tests...all A's, maybe one B, and ended up with a B+ w/out the xtra credit. Other students didn't do so well on the tests...some C's and B's and got an A for the course because they did the silly xtra credit paper.

I'm just glad it's over!

I loved A&P I.....we had cadavers in lab, it was incredibly interesting.

For me A/P II was definitely harder because in that class we covered the brain and central nervous system, and I can NEVER keep all those darned nerves in order!! Never mind all those areas of the brain, and what area is responsible for which movement/emotion/etc...!! :imbar
