A&P1 study group

Published

Are there any A&P1 study groups out there this semester? And if so when do your classes start? My class start on 1/21!!!

FINALLY got my practicum score and am really happy with it. I just hope that I did near as well on the lecture exam this past week...still waiting to hear. I am really trying to pull an A out of this class!

We're also using the Marieb text. I'm in A&P2 right now, just want to wish you luck!

Yayayay! I just took my first exam on skeletal and the skin. I got a 98 on the practical and the written parts. :D Now on to muscles....

Tip that works for me: find the meanings of the names you are memorizing. It will help retention. If anything, you are holding on to the word in your head while you look it up.

Does anyone have advice for learning all the bones including each one's specific features? I have a lab practicum in a couple weeks on all the bones. I think the most difficult part for me is not having a skeleton model to look at while I study. Your study tips will be much appreciated!

We just had a test on the skeleton. I felt like all I did was study for that test! I was so worried I'd forget the names when I got there, but I think I did okay.

Anyway, what helped me so much was a site called getbodysmart.com and a couple others I can't remember. I printed each bone on a page with no labels and then printed a key with labels. I numbered them and just quizzed myself over and over. Writing things down makes me remember them so when I missed one I would wirte it a couple times. I learned one bone at a time. Studying this way worked for me, I didn't forget anything I had learned. Once I knew them all I quizzed myself once a day leading up to the test. Good luck!

So far I have 100% in A&P I (I just took a test last week that may change that, though!) I like this company's charts, and they also have a skeleton called 'Mr Thrifty' for $59. http://www.anatomical.com/category.asp_Q_ipp_E_5000_A_t_E_c_A_sb_E_4_A_action_E_showall_A_c_E_26My school has lots of skeletons, so I'm good. I also found some awesome charts at B&N that you can put right into your binder for less than $5! Good luck!

Thank you stc254 and back2thebooks. I love the quizzes on getbodysmart.com and I've ordered Mr. Thrifty. I just hope Mr. Thrifty doesn't scare the skin off my 3 young sons! LOL!

LOL. I used to take my oldest son to speech at a shared clinic (they also had physical therapy there)----he wasn't too fond of the skeleton he had to walk past every time he had to go potty. I found the key was to act very nonchalantly about it, but also try to get him interested. I said "Isn't this neat--it's all the parts of our body so that we can learn. I think that is pretty cool that they can make a 'bone doll'" He bought it and now wants to always look at the REAL photos of cadavers in my lab manuals---and he's just turned 4!

Got my first lab quiz back, it was on directional terms, body cavities and organ systems. I got a 98% so I'm so excited! Next week is our lecture quiz on Genetics and Cellular Function, Histology and the Integumentary system...I'm studying hard core for that one!

Seems like my class is behind all of you guys seems like most of you have already been tested on Histology.

Oooh! I got a skeleton that looks like Mr Thrifty with my AP labkit. My kids love him! We call him 'Achmed' - re: Jeff Dunham.

Great job on those tests, so many people are doing great! I'm almost through with my histology lab...so far my report is at 5/6 pages. Is this about average for you all too?

I just brought Mr. Thrifty too :) I have my 2nd practical March 12 over the bones. Thanks Back2thebooks! :)

I need MAJOR MAJOR HELP!!! We just covered the skull in lab and I'm totally lost. We have to know every single part of the skull, every bone, every bone part, every hole, every process and attachment, every little thing that goes with the skull. I'm totally lost!

I can tell you the large bones of the skull, the sutures, maybe some foramen, that's about it! Everyone else in my class seems to be on top of it and I'm studying just as much as they are if not more. If someone has some tips or good websites or any other study material, please share it!
