A&P1 study group

Published

Are there any A&P1 study groups out there this semester? And if so when do your classes start? My class start on 1/21!!!

Specializes in CTICU/CVICU.

I'm glad you guys are getting good grades..but A&P is kicking my butt right about now! I got a freakin C on the first exam. No one got an A..there were like 3 or 4 Bs..some C's..majority D's and F's! Only 25 questions for 3 chapters.

We have our 1st pratical on tomorrow and I've been studying ALL weekend. The problem with the professor is he says 1 thing is going to be on the exam..but it's full of other stuff. I don't trust him now so I'm studying EVERYTHING!

I guess I'll just have to work harder. Even though our lowest grade on exams will be dropped..I am DETERMINED to get an A in this class..

I've made some histology flashcards to get ready for an exam this week. I decided to make them available for download for other students who need histology images to study.

Here is a link to download them - http://www.yousendit.com/download/U0d4TXRjNDJoeVpMWEE9PQ

There are 29 images that cover epithelial tissue and connective tissue. For each image, there is a Word document that tells you the classification of the tissues in the image, the function, and the location where you can find them.

What I did is I took the whole thing to Kinkos and told them to print double sided so the image is on one side and the explanation is on the back. They came out REALLY nice and are way better than the study material that I have in my book or the flashcards that I bought.

If anyone downloads them, please send me a message and let me know if you found them useful. The download link only works for 7 days so I'll make a new one if people find it useful.

Hey guys I just got my grade back from my first AP I Lab Practical, it was fill in the blank 50 questions it was over Histology, the cell and body cavities etc!!!! Well here we go, drum roll please.....I made an 88, I'm kinda of disappointed I thought I would have made a higher grade :( I study forever stayed up till 4am for a week and Red Bull was my best friend :) ahhhh I hope I do better on the next practical words of encouragement?????

I can't believe the amount of time I am putting into this class! I have already spent 4 hours on the histology lab and have another couple to go. I put in at least 1-2 hours per night on this subject, the assignments and learning journals alone take me a couple of hours to write. I AM glad though the quizzes aren't worth that much in the whole scheme of things. I got a 75 on my last quiz, but got 100s on my assignment and journal so managed to pull off a 93 for the unit.

I am really stressed about this upcoming histology lab. It is worth 75 points alone. To put it in perspective, my last unit in total (quiz, discussion, journals & assignment) was worth only 70. It took me a couple hours alone to figure out what was wanted and lay out my lab report - but I have to admit its really interesting. I am learning so much just by researching on the web and using resources out there. It's cool...just time intensive.

misspink85 - You still did a good job! You worked hard and an 88 is still a mark to be proud of - WAY better than my 75. ((HUGS))

Lovelymo - the first exam is always the hardest, you never know what the teacher expects of you. I'm sure you will do better on the next one.

We all made it this far - we can do this!!!!

js408, love the flashcards! I am finding them handy. I can look at the pictures, pick out the cells and then check on the info, love it! If you keep doing more please share them, I will gladly sponge off your hard work. ;)

Ok I will be making some more with muscle and neural cell next

Dont be disappointed! An 88 is great! I have a fill in the blank practical tommorow thats 50 questions on tissues and what not and the professor said most people usually get D's or F's he says its not easy identifying tissues on the microscope. Congrats on your 88!

Well you are studying hard and learning the material so Im sure you will do great on the lab practical! Everyone is stressed out about the histology lab practical, but you can do it. My professor said that we should take a deep breath, focus and try to find clues on the slides that will help identify the tissues. Think positive thoughts. I wish I put as much time into this lab as you have, but Im trying to sweat it since labs are only 25% of my grade. I hope you get an A on your histology exam! My professor gave us a power point on a cd that has tips on identifying tissues on slides I can send it to you if you would like to look at it. You can PM me your email address. Anyone can PM or email me if they would like a copy of the power point.

My professor sent one last website on histology it has quizzes that he said may be helpful. http://www.meddean.luc.edu/lumen/MedEd/Histo/frames/histo_frames.html

Good luck everyone! Dont feel down if you get a lower grade than you expected. As long as you did your best thats what matters.

JS408 I like your flash cards too! Extremely helpful thanks so much!

i just took my histology exam yesterday, and it was really tough...

i hope i did well

I hope you did well too! Histology is difficult.
