Are there any A&P1 study groups out there this semester? And if so when do your classes start? My class start on 1/21!!!
We just had our second lecture on muscle. Actin, Myosin, Sarcomeres. Here's some animations that I found helpful:

I wish we had Cadavers! I am at a community college.. so it's a little pricey for them. I have a test on the Skeleton this coming Tuesday!! Nervous- my instructor is not the best at letting you know what's on the test. Half the time it's stuff he never really spent time on. So, it's FUN FUN!
I have a B in this class- All A's in my other four classes.. I'm so trying to get an A so I can have a 4.0 this semester.. it will help me get into the Nursing program much faster.
I'll be signing up next month for AP II. I'm also going to be taking Human Growth & Dev and General Psych. Should be a good balance.
We're on the muscles right now, ugh. I don't mind the muscles themselves its the tissue stuff that stinks. I will be checking out the vids js408 linked to, I need as much help there as I can get.
Other than that I've been doing OK, those darn labs are killing me though. I just handed in another 8 page one this time on the bones! Ugh. These things are murder - 3 more labs to go too.
I haven't yet figured out how to remember all of the muscles, actions, origins, and insertions

Congrats to everyone that is doing so well! I am taking Chem and Anatomy (the school I go to offers Anatomy and Physio separately). I bombed the first test and I just got a 90% on my second midterm and an 88% on the lab exam. Urgh, those slides kill me! Anyway, I just wanted to say that we are using the Marieb book, and if anyone is using this book, use the website!!! I did not look at the website until after the first test, and it helped A LOT. Also, take the quizzes at the end of the chapters. Unfortunately, our teacher does not have a lot of structure, and just breezes through the powerpoints. Everyone complained a lot after the first test, so he has been better lately about emphasizing what will be on the exams. Is anyone going to be taking Micro in the summer, and should I take Micro although I haven't taken Physio? Any thoughts? Thanks!
I just got through my second exam/practical on joints, muscles and some nervous system. My teacher had to take off due to a family emergency. She got another teacher to cover, who seems to be pretty good. Unfortunately for him, he didn't set up the practical, but had to procter it. the people who set it up got about half of it wrong. Putting stickers on the wrong spots to stickers on things we didn't study. The class just about rebelled about it. My regular teacher is pretty good about being flexible about mistakes so I'm not stressed about it.. but it WAS frustrating. The written part wasn't bad. Mostly multiple choice and a few essay questions. I feel good about my answers, but I didn't envy the substitute last night.
i have my lab exam on the axial and appendicular skeletal system on monday. i was being lazy the past few weeks i thought it would be super hard to study for these bones within 2 days... i was dead wrong
i love this site so much, i got so many stuff in the appendicular and some of axial skeletal within 1 day!!! lol im so proud
i know this site flies around the forum, but i just want to repost it for anyone who missed it xD, but the site could improve with better detailed real bone pictures or something other than that its awsome!!!
If you get a bad grade on the test because the test was setup wrong, the test shouldn't count. Complain to the department chair and/or the dean of the school.

Well the cadavers gave me nightmares. Especially this one that I can't get out of my head. It was an arm with shoulder attached so we could study the glenohumeral joint. It was skinned except for the hand and the hand was a lady's hand with nice nails. The smell of the cadavers was terrible and we had to keep rewetting them with formaldehyde so they don't dry out.
It was very interesting seeing the inside of the tibiofemoral joint. Very complicated joint, lots of parts. Also very interesting seeing the dissected vertebrae with all connective tissue, ligaments, and nerves/spinal cord attached. Touching the intervertebral disc was also very interesting.
Today we have a midterm exam covering ossification, entire skeletal system, articulations, movements, and so on. I'm told that multiple cadavers will be setup in stations and we'll have to do identification. Every test and quiz up to this one has been using pictures so I'm very nervous about this, especially since we've only had one lab dealing with the cadavers we're going to identify. I don't feel that we were adequately prepared!
For this class our grade consists of tests, quizzes, and class participation. We don't have to do lab reports
