JTCC fall 2011 acceptance
Hi everyone:lol2: ...so excited/anxious to be starting school so soon!! I wanted to let you guys know that I called the Midlo bookstore and they informed me that the box of books are expected the first week of August... so I guess that's a little better than we anticipated, IF they do in fact arrive on time! I'm in the HDEP Program as well- not sure about how a study group will work for me, I live ALL THE WAY in King William County... and will be working a couple days a week, too. But will figure that out later.. :) Congrats guys!! Look forward to all of us meeting soon!!

Biting off more than I can chew??
I think it's really what YOU think you can handle. I'm a FT, PREGNANT (lol) employee at a hospital, and will be starting the Nursing Program next month! I know several nurses who went through school with children, working (at least part-time) and succeeded. However, everyone is different... but if you're working PRN they can't really MAKE you work more than the PRN Requirement.. which I'm sure is MUCH less than 2 days every 2 weeks. I've found even in my Drug Dosage Calculations Class, that working in the field really makes things "click" so - for me it's a benefit working in the hospital. Good Luck:yelclap:

What are good shoes, socks, and a watch for a nursing student?
I LOVE my Timberland Professional shoes- they look exactly like the typical white nursing shoe- very supportive and comfortable! And I got my watch at Target for like $15 and it claims to be waterproof (for all that hand-washing) and rubbery band is easy to clean off.

Is anyone attended or considered attending............ SRMC?
I am applying to SRMC Traditional Program for the Spring '10! I also applied to J. Sargeant Reynolds, but it seems pretty competitive to get in.. so hopefully between the two I will get in this Spring! :plsebeg:

A&P 1 - Spring 2009
I'm worried about taking AP online- I have no choice but to take AP2 Online this Summer (So that I can finish all pre-req's by the end of summer) I just got a new job at a hospital from 3-11 (My classes right now are all in the mornings..so it worked out great) But then I saw the summer schedule and the only times to take the majority of summer classes is at night or online! Good luck to us both :icon_roll

A&P1 study group
I wish we had Cadavers! I am at a community college.. so it's a little pricey for them. I have a test on the Skeleton this coming Tuesday!! Nervous- my instructor is not the best at letting you know what's on the test. Half the time it's stuff he never really spent time on. So, it's FUN FUN! I have a B in this class- All A's in my other four classes.. I'm so trying to get an A so I can have a 4.0 this semester.. it will help me get into the Nursing program much faster.

A & P I Spring 2009
:rcgtku: reading this thread has given me a sigh of relief! i start classes next week: a&p1, eng111, psych, mth20 and sdv (that study skills class that i'm required to take..) and i'll be working around 30 hours a week.. so i am really stressing out, wondering if it's possible to take all of these classes while working and actually make good grades. thanks!! good luck to everyone!

anxiety...
absolutely! ...so long as your mind is 110% set on being a nurse.. also think of all the things you can do with an rn.. you can work behind a desk for an insurance company if you don't like hands on! there are so many options. as long as your heart is set on it.. go for it. my husband supports me 100% and told me to quit my job and work pt and he would pay the bills so that i could go to school and graduate in about two years or so. so, in that i'm very fortunate. i have alot of people in my family saying negative things.. that i'm quitting my job (where i make really good $$) but i know this is what i've always wanted to do.. just never thought i could do. surround yourself with positive people- you found a great website for support and advice! trust me.. i'm starting my pre-requisites next week.. including a&p, math 120, eng11 and psych!! i'm right there with you :icon_hug:

I start A&P1 in a week! I hope that the short time I have studied will pay off..I Studied all the organs, muscles and bones to get a head start.. here's a website I found that is a little more fun to get familiar with the exact location and facts about anatomy. http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/ Good Luck everyone!! :typing
