Hello, all. My name is Amy and I currently work as a Medical Assistant for a private practice internist. I've been a MA for 5 years now and I feel it's time to expand my knowledge and move on to nursing. I have well, technically over 70 credit hrs (from my art studies, MA assoc. degree, and current work) and taking A&P I, Interpersonal communications (speech), and Life Span Develop. (Psych). I already took the chemistry class (passed w/ a 'B', 85). Just wanted to introduce myself.

just went to my first class and lab.. we disected a rat.. had babies haha was pretty fun i enjoyed it but my teacher just reads off powerpoint... nice lady but not very informative... i feel like im gonna have to teach myself

We dissected a rat...male and we named him 'Stuart'. I thought it was so fun! except for the smell that is!

Drawing has not been part of our grade so far.

During lab practicals we have stations, move around the room, and its all scan tron.

From what Ive been led to believe, I think all our exams, both lecture and lab are scan tron.

Lucky! All our lab practicals are from memory - no scantrons.

It's not lucky. I go to the same school as Anne36, and have already had A&P1 - the labs were the only part I did somewhat poorly on because of the HORRIFIC set up, and it's the same screwy way in A&P 2. We have ONE DAY to look at the models for a particular section, and sometimes there are no answer keys to those models, even in lab class! So we're sitting there guessing half the time - and when it comes to the test, we have little sticky labels on the models (that have been known to have been TAMPERED with), and they are not always clear what in the hell they are pointing to. So I ended up with A's in lecture, but C's in lab! You see the problem here? I'm not the only one either - several other A students in my class ended up the same way. We can go to a learning center to view *some* of the models again before the exam, but they are far and few between - and most likely those models won't even be on the exam. Our school is DISGUSTING when it comes to lab! So disorganized - I HATE IT!:down:

Not to mention the exams are 100 questions each - which totals to 1:45 min taking an overly long test, and forget going to the bathroom during it. Thank god there are only 3, so if you do, do poorly on them, if you do well enough in lecture you can still walk out with an A. But it pisses you off that your grade might be jeopardized due to laziness and incompetence on the school's part.

ALSO, since it's scantron and the lab test is a onetime only set up, you get your exam back, but NEVER know what you got wrong. I thought the point of tests was for feedback and test how much we know? If I don't know what I messed up, then how can I ever improve?

ours was pregnant we named her joanie like joanie and cha chi haha

So I only got a 64 on my first lecture exam, but with the grade adjustment that's a C, and it's higher than the class average, so it's okay...especially since I didn't study nearly as much as I should have. I'll do better next time.

Eh. I have probably a low C+ right now...I'm not sure; I don't have my "exact" score for my second exam yet. I got an 82/83 on the first, 84 on the first lab practical...76 so far on the second lecture, but I don't have the written portion back yet. I could retain my B- - if I get an amazing writing score.

I hate this class so badly right now.

I feel ya. This is my second time taking this class, so you can only imagine how much I hate it! I don't even care as long as I get a C though...

I'm so happy right now - just found out that there's a hospital near me that allows volunteers in their NICU/PICU! I'm filling out an application right now.

we arent allowed to go to the bathroom when or if we do we have to hand in the test and shell assume that we are done...

heres my dilema... i have a teacher who made us buy the text book and also the lecture book she wrote but the thing is.. the the book is actually thicker than my textbook.. the book she wrote up consits of powerpoint slides with generalized stuff.. we add notes here and there but it seems like they are the mainpoints shell focus on... now do i focus on mainly that book and use the text book as reference or vice versa have anyof you had teachers like that?? my first test thats on histology cells planes etc is on feg 26 ty

I love the lecture, but the lab is pretty ****** to say the least. First we have a quiz every lab day. The teacher missed class the previous lab session so we had to take 2 quizzes and guess what, the lecture exam was the very same day. Needless to say, I have had enough of A&P for a two or three days. Oh yeah, why the hell do need to draw the histology tissues? I suck so bad at drawing and my teacher wants it to be very detailed.
