Published

So, i am guessing we've all registered for our classes for next semester...i wanted to start a thread where everyone taking the course can come together to ask questions they need help with or just vent or LOL....watever the case may be...so if you are taking A&P 1 in the spring...introduce your self...

a. How many credits you are taking next semester

b. What part of A&P 1 you are looking forward to, are you nervous?

c. How long you have to apply?

d. Some random thing about you?

Lets gooooooo................

Check this thread for some amazing notes by a member.... Polka-dot.(You Rock!!)...for notes on A&P....and welcome to anatomy heaven...:)

My prof is crazy! She was trying to rush through things so we could have our test on Friday as per the schedule, and she kept saying "I don't care! I don't care" as she was going through the slides...then she gave up and said that she had to move the test to Monday so she could get through everything which made me mad because I'm going home this weekend and I know how much studying will get done there...but then she said that she could move it to Wednesday and basically the whole class wanted that, so my test is almost a week after the scheduled date.

We haven't gotten to tissues or any real anatomy yet. This is our fourth week and we're still doing chapters 1-4 which is basically cellular chemistry and general biology.

We just finished the tissue chapter (according to my prof's website...'ve been sick and had to miss class), and our next test is over chapters 3 and 4. It's next week, along with our bones practical.

We just did a lab practical on tissues. We had to know some bones for the last lecture exam and I got a 95 out of 100. I dont know how I did on the practical yet.

Curious, when is your last day? Mine is about the last day of April and we are on chapter 7 now.

Aaaargh!!! I really suck at drawing.:banghead: I'm downright terrible. Even as a child my stick figures sucked big time.

Of all the things in A&P to worry about, I'm worried about my histology drawings.

Does anyone have any tips? I know we don't have to be artists to draw tissues but I am so terrible at anything artistic that I don't even know how to begin drawing these things.

The histology drawings are worth 15% of our grade for lab which is freaking me out. I have no doubt I can pull an A in this class. I've done excellent on the exams so far. Its just these darned drawings that are freaking me out!!

My last day is May 3. We're on chapter 3ish right now.

Oh God...if we had to do any drawing whatsoever I would be screwed! Histology drawing as part of your grade? Why?

I have my first practical tonight at 6:30. It's on the skull, axial skeleton and tissues.

Are the drawings for a LabNotebook? That's what we have to use them for but we can also use digital photos.

I think I'm the only one who draws the pictures (I taught art so that's one thing I'm good at...). Drawing tip here--it may work??? try just looking at the slide and let your hand draw what you are looking at. Think that you are touching the edges of the tissue with your pencil; look for curved lines, angles, straight lines, circles, dots, etc. Don't think that you are drawing the tissue but just a series of lines. Sometimes it helps if you don't look at your drawing but rather at the object you are attempting to draw. Drawing is more what the eyes SEES than what the hand does. Actually this is called, Blind Contour (more or less). Ok, enough of that...try colored pencils it may make if more fun.:D

Anyway, I've tried taking digitals through the microscope and I find it rather difficult as I just have a little Canon PowerShot but I am getting better. Some of the people in my class have these incredible cameras with attachments to the microscope...geez, I'm lucky I can afford the class without all the extra technology. Maybe you could rent a digital (if allowed) if the drawing is still making you crazy. Good luck.

Thanks for those tips Sart45,

No they are not for a lab notebook. Its one of our graded assignments for the semester.

Unfortunately we are not allowed to use digital images. They must be drawn from the slides.

Well the good thing is that half of them are due on the day we take our mid term exam and the other half are due later in the semester so I have some time to work on my drawing skills. I'll just have to spend a lot of time in open lab and give it my best shot. I'll try what you said, just look at the slide and draw without looking at the paper.

^ That sucks. In our lab we take pictures all the time! RE: taking digital pictures through microscopes...it's hard, but totally worth it! Once you get the technique down, it's not that bad, and then you can post the pictures on Facebook so everyone else in your lab can see them. Or you can make your own flashcards.

My first practical was tonight. I think I did pretty well. There was one that I had absolutely no clue of, and then a couple others that I wasn't really sure about...but overall it wasn't too bad.

I didn't do too well on my first practical...got a 72. Oh well.

just went to my first class and lab.. we disected a rat.. had babies haha was pretty fun i enjoyed it but my teacher just reads off powerpoint... nice lady but not very informative... i feel like im gonna have to teach myself
