Parents make choices for their children relative to the rules of the community.

I simply believe in sound public health guidance for vaccine preventable illnesses and I understand why public schools have vaccine expectations.  I also understand that the COVID-19 vaccine concerns among Trump supporting Americans also now includes other vaccines and vaccination rates are dropping.

How long do you think it will be before there are no recommendations for childhood vaccination and the USA doesn't subsidize the cost of the common childhood vaccines under the direction of RFKjr? What do you think that unsubsidized cost will be to young parents?

Those are vaid concerns. I don't necessarily agree but its a worthwhile discussion.

That's not where we started though, is it?

You said that "Trump is ignorant and doesn't really care about out his people.  This is evident in his priorities.  He recently issued an EO that punishes public educational institutions which require COVID-19 vaccines.  "

And to try and show that Trump doesn't care about people, you cited this EO:

"By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered:

Section 1. Purpose and Policy. Some school districts and universities continue to coerce children and young adults into taking the COVID-19 vaccine by conditioning their education on it, and others may re-implement such mandates. Parents and young adults should be empowered with accurate data regarding the remote risks of serious illness associated with COVID-19 for children and young adults, as well as how those risks can be mitigated through various measures, and left free to make their own decisions accordingly. Given the incredibly low risk of serious COVID-19 illness for children and young adults, threatening to shut them out of an education is an intolerable infringement on personal freedom. Such mandates usurp parental authority and burden students of many faiths.

It is the policy of my Administration that discretionary Federal funds should not be used to directly or indirectly support or subsidize an educational service agency, State educational agency, local educational agency, elementary school, secondary school, or institution of higher education that requires students to have received a COVID-19 vaccination to attend any in-person education program."

You're saying Trump issued this EO because he doesn't care about children dying from covid. Which of course is nuts.

Better discussions would be had and members might maintain their credibility, and maybe common ground would be discovered if we didn't always spend so much time to constantly swat away the absurd.

Like another member said it's and others how appropriate it is to point out the hypocrisy of each other's sides and deflect.

In my opinion Trump gives us much absurdity to talk about.  Also some of the responses to Trump are a bit absurd as well.  I find myself withdrawing somewhat rather than discuss it all.

Agreed.  There is plenty bad and good to discuss about Trump so no need to make up stuff.  I also usually ignore the absurd and move on to better uses of my time.

Trump is ignorant and he is a sociopath with no empathy.  That means that he doesn't care about the American people.

Educational institutions were threatened with loss of federal funding of they don't comply with the DEI whims of the crazy leader in the Oval.

There's zero evidence that Trump cares that children can and have died from COVID illness. There evidence that he cares that the vaccines are required for school attendance.

We have no choice but swat away at the absurd when the absurd represents the majority of what eminates from the crazy old guy in the Oval and the immigrant who dies his thinking for him.

"Here are Trump's executive orders, among those covered in the poll, garnering favorable support:

  • The federal government's recognizing only two sexes, male and female, is supported by 63% and opposed by 37%.
  • Asked about deporting immigrants in the United States illegally, 60% are in favor and 40% are opposed.
  • Similarly, 60% favor expanding oil and gas production.
  • And 59% favor declaring a national emergency due to migrant crossings at the southern border."

I read that the president attended the first half of the Super Bowl last week, and this week he went to a Nascar race. I saw a clip of his limo circling the track.

That must have cost a pretty penny. At the same time we are canceling grants for cancer research and firing FAA workers.

Does anyone have any idea how much those little jaunts cost? I saw an estimate of $20 million? Jeesh, stay home and watch sports on TV, dude.

$20 million?  You heard wrong.

So he's deporting ands detaining brown immigrants in camps while he's making it easier for white South Africans to apply for refugee status. Did I understand that correctly?

But he made an apparent exception to the refugee resettlement pause this month when he signed an executive order accusing the South African government of allowing attacks on white Afrikaner farmers.

"The Secretary of State and the Secretary of Homeland Security shall take appropriate steps, consistent with law, to prioritize humanitarian relief, including admission and resettlement through the United States Refugee Admissions Program, for Afrikaners in South Africa who are victims of unjust racial discrimination," Trump's order said.

Trump's asylum offer to South Africa's white minority follows years of AfriForum lobbying on Elon Musk's behalf.

Donald Trump's offer of political asylum to South Africa's white minority, just days after blocking genuine refugees from travelling to the US, followed years of campaigning by an Afrikaner group that has promoted "white genocide" conspiracy theories while also lobbying on behalf of Elon Musk's business interests....

Beerman didn't comment so I'm not clear if he  posted this for discussion because he thought this reflected well on Trump's agenda.  I certainly think it reflects Trump's white nationalist belief system and also reflects that Musk represents an outsized influence on the crazy old guy's thinking.  It's almost like Musk is whispering policy into the ear of the mad king.

With all the war refugees and poverty in black Africa, Trump singles out white South Africans as welcome.  Okay.
