Oh, school nurse friends...

How I wish we could bottle up the magic of "the week before Christmas Break", or "Celebration Day", or "Staff vs. Student Basketball Game Day" and spread it through the air ducts daily, all year.

It seems kiddos are amazingly not sick on these days. It's a miracle actually.

Seriously, on the day of our staff/student basketball game-in which I was a cheerleader-I saw kids hit and slide across that gym floor and jump up and carry on like nothing happened. On a regular day they would've claimed their legs were broken and their eyeball was falling out. BUT NOT TODAY.

Is it like this for the rest of you?

YES!! It amazes me how kids will come in in severe pain, "get the rescue chopper on stand-by" type emergency because they knocked their knee into the desk and need ice but then drive by the park after school and watch the same kid skid on those same tender knee the length of the soccer field but that's ok because it was on their terms.

Holidays are another day that i feel like the Maytag repairman - between parties and half days where i can see in upwards of 50-60 kids a day, it's not uncommon for me to just see my daily meds and diabetics those days. Ahh - holiday miracles.

You see, the week before Holiday break I see MORE kids. The older ones all want to start break early, mainly because for the older kiddos, a lot of work is due just before break vs. after because of the way our quarters end.

I sent one kid home at 805 after arriving at school and then throwing three times in my office restroom. Go and take your germs far, far from here, please!

Only 7.5 school days (including today) until break...

I also like to giggle when teachers return from a field trip and not one single Band-Aid was needed. Nobody ever seems to have nausea, invisible nosebleeds, unexplainable paralysis, sudden onset blindness/deafness while not on campus.

I did not go on any field trips last year and not one complaint, this year, I had a concussion and numerous other minor issues. Bring the nurse, their services will definitely be needed.
