One of the great perks (or curses?) of PDN work is going along for the ride, everywhere! Last week, I was a "rent-a-nurse" for an intermediate unit that was going on a field trip to a local AAA baseball game. It was a lot of fun and I got a free hot dog meal! A few years ago I went on a field trip to a local greenhouse at Halloween. Since I'm mostly an overnight nurse, I don't go too many places, but these rare day jobs can be great.

My friend also does PDN does adult care, and last week she tagged herself on Facebook in the middle of the night at the local casino, helping her client play blackjack! (Yes, yes, HIPAA, she didn't name names, and she won't see your lecture here anyway.)

But the best trip wasn't even on the clock. Last month, a former client invited me and my daughters down to visit her at her college in Washington, DC. She was interning at a satellite radio station for kids, and they were invited to attend a concert recording of a famous kids recording artist whom they love. They both sat right at his feet!!! It was a dream come true for them, and the entire trip was a blast for everybody. This doesn't count as a work trip but it never would have happened if it wasn't for my career as a PDN. You never know where nursing can take you!

Disney World and Special Olympics Camp! Lots of fun on both trips.

This is silly, but on a school trip it was the butterfly atrium. It was fun being covered in butterflies.

i have not been anywhere special.

Also, i am not trying to be a troll,but I am very weary of going out with clients while i am off the clock.

That is just me though.

No where fun im on my cases. Just a few small outings in which I was afraid for my safety because the parent was a HORRIBLE driver.

From experience, if the parent says they're a bad driver as you get in the car...they are.

Don't particularly care for the admonition that it is my responsibility to accompany the patient to appointments when the family clearly goes out of their way to see that I am left out of the equation. How this turns into being my fault, I don't know. As for going to exotic places: was all ready and eager to start making regular trips to Hawaii and Europe when the agency decided to put another nurse on that case. That told me I wasn't "good" enough to warrant perks.

Amusement parks, the mall, lots of times. Outlet shopping, out to lunch. All kinds of fun things. For sure it all depends on the family finances.

Beach, amusements, movies, concert (kids music but we were out and about) , camp in a beautiful area of the state (more hotel like as there were flush toilets, hot indoor showers, a private room for nurse when not on duty, A/C...and a trained 1:1 aide for each camper for ADL's, (special needs camp),
