Waiting for letter of acceptance!!!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello all....I'm new here and am wondering if there's anyone else out there going crazy while waiting to find out if they've been accepted to a nursing program? I live in Michigan and have applied to Macomb Community College and the cut off for applications was Feb. 15. Not supposed to hear anything for about 1 1/2 - 2 months. In the meantime I am taking A&P, so between that and my two little ones I do keep busy. Our college accepts 120 students with 4 start dates: Aug., Oct., Jan., and March. Last year I believe that over 1000 people applied so it is very competitive, as I'm sure it is everywhere. I'm just so anxious and excited to get started. I'm 33 yrs. old, a wife and mother of two. This is something I have wanted to do since graduating from high school and I am so thankful that I now have the opportunity to go for it!!!!

Seems like everyone here will find out before I do. Our application deadline isn't even until May 1. They say we'll find out by June 30, then start classes this fall. I'm excited but nervous too. I heard that the first semester is the hardest, to weed out all those who can't "hack it". I actually heard that from the dean of the nursing dept at the info session. SCARY...:uhoh21:

Don't feel bad. Most of our programs start the beginning of June, so that's why we are getting acceptances now. Yes, the first semester is probably the hardest, especially for people who have not been fulltime students in a while. But I'm sure if you keep up on all the reading, do the homework and ask questions in class, you'll be fine. (That's what I plan to do!)

The hard part was just getting in! :) They really do want to keep you in the program and do everything they can to prepare you for the NCLEX. Otherwise, it doesn't look good for them to have a low pass rate on the NCLEX at the end of the RN program. :p

Oh gosh...I'm in the same boat. I applied last week in Joint Baccalaureate Nursing in Winnipeg, MB, which is, btw, the country's coldest place. it's always negative celsius there. but i'm willing to change my lifestyle just to get in. I live in Vancouver, BC. Oh well...goodluck to all of us. I still get that sick feeling in the stomach. I have to wait for 2 weeks for the letter...yikes...scary!!!

Okay, I just got my letter. And........I made it in. I'll be starting nursing school on March 28, 2005. I'm so excited, and relieved as well.

Good luck to the rest of you that are waiting for your letters!!!

Well, I am still waiting but the good news is the letters should be going out early next week. I should know one way or the other by Friday. Cross your fingers, send a prayer up, or a wishful thought please. I really hope I get in.

Hey alexillytom -

I've got you in my thoughts and prayers. Let us know what happens...

I still have 4 weeks to go.... (at least) :(

Specializes in Med/Surg.

I'm also waiting for my Acceptance(or Rejection) letter

I applied to a Nursing School in Feb...took NLN Exam in March...and now just anxiously waiting...should know by the end of May

Meanwhile, I'm a full time pre-nursing student with a part-time job(thinking about quitting though)...also volunteer 2 days in a hospital

Just got my score for NLN today...kind of hard to interpret...anybody has any idea? :sniff:

I'm really worried because the school I applied to is really competetive...it takes 80 people a year(only in the Fall) and more than 500 students applied!!!

It will consider my GPA in combination to my NLN score...and gosh I don't wanna spend another year waiting to apply next year

It's nice to know that I'm not alone in this...is all the Nursing School so COMPETETIVE??? :(
