how to prepare for canadian RPN exam
Hi Busog! Since you are a graduate nurse in Philippines, you need to know your scope of nursing. There's two kinds of nursing here in Canada. One is Registered Nursing and the other one is Licensed Practical Nursing. If you are wanting to write the Canadian PN Exam, you need to get an assessment first from the College of LPN. If you are from BC check out this website http://www.clpnbc.org/ If you are looking for the exam prep guide, you can buy them at local colleges/universities that offers the course. The book that I used is called The Canadian PN Exam Prep Guide for $79.95. However, it is not returnable though. Just to clarify, in BC, if you are a RN student, you can take the LPN Exam (which obviously needs to get assessed first from CLPNBC). This was suggested to us while we were still on our 2nd year because this will help us earn money while studying. As some of you know, working as a student (RN) nurse is a bit difficult as they only offer the program during summer and only certain hours are offered per student. Hope this helps :)

students in trinity western university, langley, british columbia
hello everyone! first of all, i was very, very happy because i got in in one of the universities in lower mainland called trinity western university. i applied in march of this year...they put me on a waiting list. i wasn't expecting they're gonna call me or whatsoever. but luck came in, they called me last week, a day after my birthday with a big news. "a student pulled out last minute and decided that she doesn't wanna go into nursing, there's an available spot for you if you are interested". right there and then, i dropped everything, including my full time job in bc women's and children's hospital as a nursing unit clerk. even my wedding which is supposed to be happening sometime soon got put on hold as well. i told myself before that once a big opportunity like this comes...i need to drop everything all because of nursing. this phone call is one of the greatest gift i ever got. i couldn't sleep for 2 days trying to picture myself being in a university. this kind of luck doesn't go around the circle twice most of the time. anyhow, i got in...it is the bachelor of science in nursing. the program is 4 years long. it didn't take longer than 6 months to wait for the result. i'm guessing, they probably based it on my gpa. well, there's one big problem though, tuition is very expensive. it's about $16,000 a year. oh well...have to suck it up you know? my question is...are there any people in there who is in the same situation? this sounds really funny but it's true. i've worked really hard to do all of my prereq's while working full time at the same time. just by reading some of the posts and basing it on my experience, getting into nursing school is not easy at all. actually, it's a lot of hard work. sooo...is there really people out there who didn't have to wait for years to get in? ur inputs are greatly appreciated. qtcie, student nurse bscn 2005-2009

Waiting for letter of acceptance!!!
Oh gosh...I'm in the same boat. I applied last week in Joint Baccalaureate Nursing in Winnipeg, MB, which is, btw, the country's coldest place. it's always negative celsius there. but i'm willing to change my lifestyle just to get in. I live in Vancouver, BC. Oh well...goodluck to all of us. I still get that sick feeling in the stomach. I have to wait for 2 weeks for the letter...yikes...scary!!!
