Waiting for letter of acceptance!!!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello all....I'm new here and am wondering if there's anyone else out there going crazy while waiting to find out if they've been accepted to a nursing program? I live in Michigan and have applied to Macomb Community College and the cut off for applications was Feb. 15. Not supposed to hear anything for about 1 1/2 - 2 months. In the meantime I am taking A&P, so between that and my two little ones I do keep busy. Our college accepts 120 students with 4 start dates: Aug., Oct., Jan., and March. Last year I believe that over 1000 people applied so it is very competitive, as I'm sure it is everywhere. I'm just so anxious and excited to get started. I'm 33 yrs. old, a wife and mother of two. This is something I have wanted to do since graduating from high school and I am so thankful that I now have the opportunity to go for it!!!!

is all the Nursing School so COMPETETIVE??? :(

Oh yes,

They are, at least the ADN schools are and now I know that the graduate direct entry masters options are too. According to all the numbers I've been reading all nursing programs are competitive.

Even though it isn't much less competitive I think the least competitive programs are actually the BSN ones.

Fingers crossed and good luck

Burlington County College!

yea!!! congratulations...i'm so happy for you. do you know when you will be starting? i think you had mentioned before that you may have to put it off until spring of '06? i am in the same situation. if i get accepted for fall of '05 i will postpone until march of '06. i want to give my youngest a good start like i did for my oldest. she will be starting preschool in the fall and i want to spend some time with her, volunteer to be "snack mom", etc. plus it will be easier/cheaper for childcare. i would start in march, go for 8 weeks then have the summer off. when i go back in the fall, my oldest will be in school full-time(1st grade). anyways, congrats again.....get a babysitter and go out and celebrate!!!! you deserve it.

i am waiting on my letter... application deadline was the 31st and the letters are supposed to be in the mail by april 15th... i am not extrememly hopeful that i got in this time around but guess i wont know for sure until i get my letter :) i am actually hoping to be put on the waiting list, how odd is that? if i get put on it then i can finish all my co-reqs and if i do not get called up this summer for the fall semester i am guarantee'd a spot next year... *fingers crossed*

is that how all waiting lists work for nursing programs? im on a wait list for a direct entry master's program that i would love to get into, so knowing that i would get in next year would be great!

i do not know if that is how it works with other schools... i am waiting to hear about an asn program... most schools will send a letter with the wait list letter that explains how they work. we were pretty much told that if we got a wait list/alternate letter to hold on tight and try to get as much done (but not to rush out and do our cpr, health exam, etc) but in most cases an alternate/wait person gets moved into the program. the first requirement of acceptance into the program is attending orientation (runs form 8:30-4 on a satruday... and they do a roll count every hour). if you fail to show up or skip one part you are out of the program no questions asked or second chances... they also have people that will apply to 3 different nursing schools and get into all 3 who may pick one of the other schools to attend... so opening happen very often and seldom are students left to move over to the next year for direct entry into the program.

good luck! and hopefully you will get into the masters program you are waiting on :)

thanks for your input and good wishes! i hope you get in as well!
