Waiting for letter of acceptance!!!

I'm just so anxious and excited to get started. I'm 33 yrs. old, a wife and mother of two. This is something I have wanted to do since graduating from high school and I am so thankful that I now have the opportunity to go for it!!!!

Hey Jenn! I'm 33yr old as well and waiting for that letter is killing me! This starting over is so hard and I'm looking at dorm life, at my age! At least the program isn't quite as competitive as many I've read about here though. The school has accepted me as student I know, for the last semester of pre-nursing. I wish you luck. It's a hard road I know!

I've been waiting for a month now and I just heard I might have to wait another month...wtf!!!!

Well, no news for me yet. I just found out on Wednesday that they are interviewing at least ten more people. Those interviews will take place on the 8th of March. I'm sure the letters will be coming very soon after that though, because Spring quarter starts on March 28th. My school did say that sometimes they have to make phone calls the night before the quarter begins to let people now that they made it in. I guess that's just the beginning of the bs that we can expect from nursing school. By taking so long to decide they make it very hard for people who may have childcare issues, or need to start working while waiting to get accepted into a program. Thankfully, I don't have kids yet. It is still hard waiting though. Today I got a little postcard in the mail from my college, it was for community education classes. I almost had a heart attack until I flipped it over and saw what it was for. I was freaking out that when they said that they reject letters were skinny, maybe they meant that they were postcards.

This is Gennaver. Neat--I also spent year number 33 in a college dorm! I was lucky enough to also be a comptetitive x-country runner also and on the team. Cool, the students were great.

However after that year I got back to my real life and ought to finish my degree finally this May, (BA).

This May I turn 39 and am really, really glad that I did get accepted to the ADN program that I applied to.

However, I am truly waiting on a graduate entry program but, the ADN will do fine if that doesn't pan out.

By the way, if anyone here was waitlisted here for Prairie State College in Illinois may have a chance, (if I get into the GEP I will drop out at the end of this May from the PSC program!!)

Hello all....I'm new here and am wondering if there's anyone else out there going crazy while waiting to find out if they've been accepted to a nursing program? I live in Michigan and have applied to Macomb Community College and the cut off for applications was Feb. 15. Not supposed to hear anything for about 1 1/2 - 2 months. In the meantime I am taking A&P, so between that and my two little ones I do keep busy. Our college accepts 120 students with 4 start dates: Aug., Oct., Jan., and March. Last year I believe that over 1000 people applied so it is very competitive, as I'm sure it is everywhere. I'm just so anxious and excited to get started. I'm 33 yrs. old, a wife and mother of two. I too was waiting for what seemed like an eternity. I had found the PERFECT program for me, someone with a BA and who needed instant gratification (an accelerated program). So when I took the entrance exam and the proctor said we would hear as early as the next day, you'd better believe I was waiting by the phone. The entrance exam was a computer-based exam, so I received my scores right away... There was really no need for me to worry about getting in... but still no word a week and a half after the fact?! I called. I called my point person at the school and left her a voicemail at 9 o'clock at night. The next day, on my lunchbreak, she called me back. She explained that the school was closed for a couple days (we had a terrible storm here in eastern PA last week) and there was no heat in their building... yadayada... she told me I got in and that an official letter would be sent out next week. I am a strong believer in following up with people. Just be sure to apologize for bothering them as you know they're probably really busy and then explain how you are just so interested in their program... They'll be able to hear it in your voice so if they haven't already made a decision, this might remind them of just what an enthusiastic person you are. And ALWAYS write thank you notes following interviews. People eat that stuff up. Best of luck to all of you embarking on the same journey! I'M SO EXCITED! I start in MAY!

I just got my acceptance letter last week. My application was due in mid Octorber and out of 600 original applicants I was accepted. I was elated at first and then the pressure kicked in. See I have three children who range in age from 9 to 4. My husband is a full time student and we are just scrimping by. I am faced with the choice of how I want to go to school. If I want full time or part time. If I go full time then I will be better off to go to summer school. Summer school lasts until the end of July and my husband and I are finally going to take our honneymoon in July. We have never had a honneymoon and have been married 10 yrs in July. I am very confussed on what to do. Does anyone have any good advice?

What's most important to you? Taking a honeymoon or getting started in your new career this summer? The fact you've held off for 10 years to take a honeymoon indicates to me you could hold off longer when there might be a better time (say during the holidays or during school breaks?). Or consider if you did go full time, what would it be like if you didn't go during the summer but still went full time in the fall? Are you prepared for the increased workload? You can always get someone to watch your kids no matter what time you decide to go on your vacation. You can always take out loans to pay for vacations, etc. But you cannot take back time. Figure out what is most important to you and go do it. (On a sheet of paper, list the pros and cons of going during the summer vs. not going, going full time vs. part time. You'll see a longer list on one side for one of them.) Good luck!

CONGRATULATIONS!!

I understand the concern over how much scrimping we have to do to make it through school, yikes! In the end though this seems like a very worthy situation that justifies it, (within total reason of course with children being treated with the love and care as always).

I am not sure though if you are considering holding off on school because of a honeymoon, (vacation?) I am married, (we've been together a while but made this last Saturday 'the' day) and we go camping here and there in the summer and do not personally feel that a 'honeymoon' vacation is important. However, some people may see that as being part of the ritual of marriage. Also, he and I are a little different in that we felt we didn't need the 'ritual' so much because for us the important part was not the clothes, the pictures, the reception and many other things that some folks feel is vital to the marriage. For us, that was only ceremony. We did not have a civil ceremony but it was very, very simple.

I guess my advice would be to consider which is more important for you, your husband and your children right now...Good luck!!

Agent! I was wondering what had happened to you! Have you gotten the letter yet? No doubt in my mind that you'll get in, regardless. :)

I'm having some anxiety of my own at the moment, while not related to acceptance... more related to the fact that I'm definately earning my BS in the "BSN" :chuckle
