Waiting for letter of acceptance!!!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello all....I'm new here and am wondering if there's anyone else out there going crazy while waiting to find out if they've been accepted to a nursing program? I live in Michigan and have applied to Macomb Community College and the cut off for applications was Feb. 15. Not supposed to hear anything for about 1 1/2 - 2 months. In the meantime I am taking A&P, so between that and my two little ones I do keep busy. Our college accepts 120 students with 4 start dates: Aug., Oct., Jan., and March. Last year I believe that over 1000 people applied so it is very competitive, as I'm sure it is everywhere. I'm just so anxious and excited to get started. I'm 33 yrs. old, a wife and mother of two. This is something I have wanted to do since graduating from high school and I am so thankful that I now have the opportunity to go for it!!!!

Well, my letter came early and......

I GOT IN!!!

I start Summer 2005!!!!!

Basically, I rock...

WTG!!!! I was in a total panic today because I got a letter from my school in the mail... I was ready to cry and everything because the applications starting being reviewed yesterday. I figured there was no way my letter would come THIS fast... but it wasnt from the nursing dept... instead from the fin. aid dept telling me that I am over qualified for F.A.... how I dont know but I am. I dont know how I am going to pay for 14 credits and books this summer (I have to take the classes) without the aid. :crying2:

YEA!!! Congratulations...I'm so happy for you. Do you know when you will be starting? I think you had mentioned before that you may have to put it off until Spring of '06? I am in the same situation. If I get accepted for Fall of '05 I will postpone until March of '06. I want to give my youngest a good start like I did for my oldest. She will be starting preschool in the fall and I want to spend some time with her, volunteer to be "snack mom", etc. Plus it will be easier/cheaper for childcare. I would start in March, go for 8 weeks then have the summer off. When I go back in the fall, my oldest will be in school full-time(1st grade). Anyways, congrats again.....get a babysitter and go out and celebrate!!!! You deserve it.

Thanks. After speaking with the admissions department, I was told that if I turn down this slot there is no guarantee that I will get accepted for the Spring 06 semester. I am going to pay the $100 to hold my slot and my husband and I will try our best to work out something between now and the beginning of August. I know that is not alot of time but if I can't make this work, I want to give the person taking my place at least a month to prepare. All of my kids will be in school full day this upcoming school year. I have a neighbor who may be able to put my kids on the school bus each morning. My sister told me if she finds a place in my area before school starts then she will make sure my children get to and from school. I will continue to explore the possibilities. We all know how hard it is to get one of these slots in nursing school. I don't want to throw mine away until I have exhausted all options. Besides, the troops are starting to grumble. I am starting to hear alot of complaints because it's taking me so long to become a nurse. When my husband and I sat down to discuss my going to school with the kids, I never thought I would spend 2.5 years on prereqs(part-time), then another 2 in nursing school. I really thought I would be able to go to school full-time and be done in three years at most. So much for that theory.

Damn I finally got it for the College of Lake County in IL.

I guess a 96% on the NLN = entrance.

I'll be waving and doing the happy dance all the way to class!!!

I know you've answered this before, but I can't remember: when do you start??? Or have you already started?

Hi there,

Just wondered if you got in....and what did you score on the teas?? I just took mine and score 70.6... :uhoh3: so I do not know if that is enough. My gpa is 3.8

So I am hoping maybe. What school did you apply to? The one I have applied to has 64 seats and 400 applicants. :uhoh3:

Hope to hear from you :)

I'm not sure if you're asking me or not, but I'll give you my info anyways. I did not take the teas because it wasn't a requirement at Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU). I had a 3.8 upon acceptance, though it will be going up after this term (I'm hoping). I don't know how many applied to OHSU this year but last year I heard there were 900 applicants and a total of 91 seats but I believe that's the entire nursing school (grad, BSN, etc.) but I could be mistaken.

I hope you get in!

My start date will be September 19.
