I took a class at MiraCosta Community College in 1988... it was a whopping $5 a credit!!! And I remember people being outraged at *that* because they thought tuition should stay free.
wow I wish I had gone in 88 lol I was in Tx then and I can't remember what I paid but it was cheap too thats why I moved there, I was living in NH and we didn't have anything like that at all everything was 4 year and very expensive. I started back in school here in Ca in 04 tuition was still 12 a credit and then the next semester they more then doubled it to 26 I really couldn't complain LOL.

Here in Tampa FL, community college is about $60 a credit. Which only makes me feel good about the fact that one of the reasons I moved here from NH was to get my education-CHEAP. So I can get my education and move back home and make real money. They pay nurses here very poorly.

Ours here in Illinois is $62.95/credit hour + the cost of books. It has increased a few times. I think when I started in 2004, for residents it was around $52/credit hour or something like that.

My graduate program at a state university in IL is over $8000 per semester in tution and fees alone. That is about as much as I paid for private school tuition when I was an undergrad!

At my NY community college, a bit over a hundred bucks a credit hour for part time, plus lab fees, insurance fees, activity fees, fees for fees.....! At fulltime, 12 or more credits in a semester, it jumped to something like $1500 for the semester, plus double or triple the same part-time fees.
And then of course there's books and uniforms and supplies.

I am told that the nursing program at the community college was $5000 for the program start to finish! The pre-req's are about $300 per class not including books.

Here in New Mexico (Albuquerque) our prerequisites are a little over $40 per credit hour - but no more than $500 a semester. Once you finish your prereq's the nursing program is FREE!!!!! Think you still pay fees, for uniform and stuff...oh and you pay for your books. Such a sweet deal - that's why the current waitlist is at two years.
