Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everyone,

I thought I'd go ahead and start a thread for A&P II. Does anyone know if there's a process to request a thread being made sticky?

Has anyone been getting a jump start on class by reading ahead? I found my Prof's powerpoint notes online, so I'm making some flash cards as well :)

Peace,

Cathie

I still have all my notes, typed, from A&P I and II. If anyone would like them I would be MORE than happy to send you a copy. They are broken down into chapters, which as you know are broken down into systems. Because the courses I took were 4 weeks each, A&P I was mostly the anatomy side and A&P II was a lot of physiology.

The type of book we used was:

Anatomy & Physiology: The Unity of Form and Function (Hardcover, 2006)

Author: Kenneth Saladin

I will say that the majority of textbooks agree on the important basics.

ps. all the notes since they split the a from the p :)

So far, I am not a fan of the endocrine system. Too much chemisty for my liking.

I got my report card for the summer classes today! An A in both english 102 and A+P II. A B in Psych: Lifespan. Yay!!

Congrats on your great grades. The endocrine system was my enemy as well. I have 12 pages of TYPED notes just on the endocrine system. As I stated earlier, all my classes are only 1 month in length. We do 3 months of work in 1 so I made an A in AP I and a B in APII so I won't complain. We covered a chapter a day and went to class 5 days a week. So if you do the math, that is 5 chapters a week and we tested on 1 weeks worth of work. I wish we would have done it chapter by chapter, but our instructor, who was a medical doctor/surgeon for over 30 years believed by testing over 5 chapters at once, he could better judge who was actually getting a good grasp on the class.

i know what you mean! i started reading the chapter on blood and i've been re-reading the same darn three pages for the past week!

Well, like I said, if anyone needs the notes I have from AP I or II I, I will be more than happy to email them to anyone. 2 people have asked here for them and I sent them.

Good luck to you all.

I started A&P II today. :)

We're starting with Blood. Lab was fun! We spent the whole time identifying different types of leukocytes. Thank goodness the practical will be actual pictures from microfilms and not slides where you can't even tell if the granules are pink or red.

I already have a headache after my first day of classes, but I'm pretty excited about this class!

Oops! Posted this in the wrong place.

i'd like to be a part of the ap2 club, i'm taking it online.

Hi everyone! We also started on blood, chapter 19. Our instructor told us that she wasn't gonna sock us with the endocrine system right off the bat. It must be a tough chapter. Maybe I should start reading and learning more about it online before we actually get lectured on it so that I'm at least somewhat familar with it. We disected a sheep's heart after learning ch.20, the heart circulation. It was interesting. A student even brought her a Deer's heart and she cut that one herself. It was lot fresher (sounds morbid, but true) than the sheep that were soaked in formaldahyde. Near the end of the semester we'll get to disect a fetal pig. I'm not looking forward to that one! Good luck with your studies as well. I know it's a lot of information and I've been taping lectures, reading the chapter thoroughly and highlighting. We haven't taken a test yet, but it's coming. I think it's four chapters worth and I've heard from others that we better know the information forward and backwards. She tests hard but she wants to make sure we fully understand to prepare us well when we enter the nursing aspect. Good Luck to everyone!;)
