  1. started applying online to a bunch of hospitals a month before graduation. even if it didn't say "NEW GRAD/GRADUATE NURSE, ETC." in the job title, i still applied. i prayed...A LOT! finally heard back from ONE hospital a month after graduation and that is where i am. new grad in the ED. only one hospital called me back. i had several interviews with recruiters, nurse educators, nurse managers, etc. at this hospital..and each time i reminded myself, this could be my only chance.

  3. i did the online Hurst Review to brush up on my content. thought the review was excellent! everyone else in my class did kaplan, but i knew i needed content review and not just questions. her practice questions were kind of easy, so i used another source for that. passed the first time w/ 75 questions. i highly recommend it!

  7. i started volunteering 2 years ago (before i started nursing school). i just got my cna licsence last week and talked with the unit director about the cna float pool. she said she's going to make some calls for me and if the float pool doesn't have an opening, she'll make one on her floor for me! definitely a great idea and a good way to network!
