Hello everyone,
I thought I'd go ahead and start a thread for A&P II. Does anyone know if there's a process to request a thread being made sticky?
Has anyone been getting a jump start on class by reading ahead? I found my Prof's powerpoint notes online, so I'm making some flash cards as well :)
Peace,
Cathie
Hi everyone! We also started on blood, chapter 19. Our instructor told us that she wasn't gonna sock us with the endocrine system right off the bat. It must be a tough chapter. Maybe I should start reading and learning more about it online before we actually get lectured on it so that I'm at least somewhat familar with it. We disected a sheep's heart after learning ch.20, the heart circulation. It was interesting. A student even brought her a Deer's heart and she cut that one herself. It was lot fresher (sounds morbid, but true) than the sheep that were soaked in formaldahyde. Near the end of the semester we'll get to disect a fetal pig. I'm not looking forward to that one! Good luck with your studies as well. I know it's a lot of information and I've been taping lectures, reading the chapter thoroughly and highlighting. We haven't taken a test yet, but it's coming. I think it's four chapters worth and I've heard from others that we better know the information forward and backwards. She tests hard but she wants to make sure we fully understand to prepare us well when we enter the nursing aspect. Good Luck to everyone!
well, i just started class yesterday (i have the same prof. for both lab & lecture) .. we started with the endocrine system and holy moley! There are an a$$-ton of hormones in there but its not impossible to learn, nothing like the bones or muscles:trout:.
i think next week or the week after we do cardiovascular which i totally look forward to!
we dont disect in this class, cuz we do *all our lab material on a mac.
is anyone else using the program Anatomy & Physiology Revealed by Robert Broyles , Jr?
We ended up doing no dissecting. The college said there wasn't enough money (even though we all paid a technology fee and a consummables fee). I didn't mind memorizing the hormones, but I had a hard time memorizing all the veins and arteries. We had a list of only 250 or so. The teacher thought she was really giving us a break! Also, it was hard to distinguish one vessel from another on the models since you can only see a small section and not the whole vessel.
Well, I guess I have some hope then if you say it (the endocrine system)is not impossible to learn..I'll take that as a positive motivation! The cardio system is interesting. I'm just wondering how much of this will we be tested on...the uncertainty of the first test! My class hasn't been two bad so far. We don't have to know all the blood vessel names thank goodness. She just wants us to understand the physiology and location of arteries, arterioles, veins, venioles, and capillaries.
It's unfortunate that some schools don't allow disections because of costs. Makes you think, what does the tecnology fee cover! I think I would have to ask the dean or the department head of science.
Hi All,
I'm a noob here, and hoping to joing this club. I started 2 weeks ago for A&PII and OMG!!! We just did the Endocrine (tested next Monday) and started Blood yesterday. The Endocrine is way hard!! A&P I was so much easier I thought. Which is pretty funny, because at the time I couldnt believe all those bones/muscles/CNS/PNS etc. thought there was alot to memorize then.
Blood seems to be easier then Endocrine though. I am going to have a tough sememster--I am taking Microbiology and Psych at the same time.

:welcome:.. endocrine system is tough..im typing my notes up and im still in a bit of a fuzz:uhoh3:. *We start cardiology this week, no blood [he's gonna integrate it into other chapters..what fun lol]
dont worry we'll all get thru it *:)
i swear if i saw a stinkin muscle or bone name again id scream:uhoh21:
LOL I agree about the bones and muscles. I was walking down the hall Mon. at school and there was all those AP I students out there cramming last minute on the cell for a test and they were panicking
I remember that, now I look back on it and that was nada compared to this crap. I am so glad this chapter is easier now. I am supposed to be studying for tonights lab quiz on blood.
Well, I had my first test in APII today on chpts 19, 20 and 21. I didn't think the material was too hard to learn and understand although my test grade showed the complete opposite! I made a D on my first test! I need to start reading a couple of pages of text each night and really try to absorb this stuff! The tests aren't just from read text material. We've got to understand the whole concept and the mechanism involved in order to get the correct answers. It's tough!

OH NO!!! I got a C on my first lab exam!!! I am freaking out here. I thought I was prepared-dang slides!!! I hate them. I think I just had a rough couple of weeks but I think the storm is weathered and I can now give most of my attention to my studies.
First week-my family get the stomach bug in which, I had my first day of class after a night of being very ill. Then, I had my gallbladder removed that same week. That weekend and week, my kids got croup and my daughters had turned into stridor.
I will get through this. I will get through this. I will get through this.
