Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everyone,

I thought I'd go ahead and start a thread for A&P II. Does anyone know if there's a process to request a thread being made sticky?

Has anyone been getting a jump start on class by reading ahead? I found my Prof's powerpoint notes online, so I'm making some flash cards as well :)

Peace,

Cathie

congrats

My professor is going so fast through through the cardiovascular system and I don't understand why. It's 3 very long chapters (blood, heart, blood vessels) and she's just flying through it in less than 2 weeks. The day she covered the heart in class we immediately went to lab and did our sheep heart dissection, and everyone was so confused because we just started the chapter weren't that familiar with the heart anatomy yet. I'm used to going fast but I think this system is very important for us soon to be nurses, and feel like I'm not getting what I should out of it. I'm doing well and have gotten all A's so far but I'm more concerned with what I'm comprehending than a grade. We still have 17 classes left and only 6 more chapters to cover, this doesn't make sense to me. Sorry I'm just frustrated. On top of that I have to write a 7 page research paper on the etiology of health issues associated with rape for this class that's due next week also. :uhoh3:Thanks for listening.

Well it is Sept 30th and I'll be darned if they didn't move the lab practical Mid Term up a week earlier. Gotta take that badboy this coming Thursday,:roll:chuckle

Had my Immunity and blood test a week ago and made 84, got another test the 8th on Endocrine and vessels. We shall see. have a 99 in lab, so hope that will hlep.

Good luck to all.

Hey everyone, I just found out my grade on the Cardiovascular system test. I made a 97. I can't believe it. I really didn't think I did that good. I have a lab pratical next week. Now it is on to the digestive and lymphatic systems. Good luck everyone with the rest of the class.

Thanks for the thread.

I will definitely be checking the site to see what's available. I am currently taking both A and P's online. It's a lot of WORK but so far so good.

I am currently studying the venous system ;-)

I can't wait for the semester to be over. I have 5 more classes to take before I start a BSN program in the fall.

;-)

We just got our lab test for the cardiovascular system and blood vessels back today. I got the highest C. For a question on labels in sheep heart anatomy, instead of putting bicusid or mitral valve I put left atrioventricular valve. If I hadn't made that stupid mistake I would have gotten a B. Also my teacher takes off for spelling so I lost a couple points there.

Well My A&P II starts tomorrow the 10th. Oh what fun 8 week classes are. We will be starting on the endocrine system so I have started taking my own notes on this chapter. That really seemed to help me in A&P I. I'll have the same teacher for A&P II as I did for A&P I so that makes me feel better since I know what he's looking for. Good luck to everyone.

well we started immunology and respiratory today in lab/lecture..whew that a lot of stuff! :|

Well, I had my first test in APII today on chpts 19, 20 and 21. I didn't think the material was too hard to learn and understand although my test grade showed the complete opposite! I made a D on my first test!:uhoh3: I need to start reading a couple of pages of text each night and really try to absorb this stuff! The tests aren't just from read text material. We've got to understand the whole concept and the mechanism involved in order to get the correct answers. It's tough!

I guess I'm not the only one! But does it feel better knowing someone else is having the same problem? NO!

The text doesn't seem to cover the material on the exams and there is no lecture for online classes, so how does one teach themselves the processes in physiology???? I feel like I can understand much of what is read and what's talked about in the small time we have in lab, but to put it together in total understanding of process is impossible! When I get to the exams and read a question that brings no automatic recall, I panic!

Our class average scores are declining with each exam, and the first was a D :uhoh3:! I've been getting high C's on the exams and with this last I got a straight C. With lab quizzes, chapter quizzes, and our group project, I still feel like I can swing a B for the class, but what a stress :o!

I asked my professor for a tutor. After a couple weeks, I was told there is not one available but if I'd like to meet with him, he could try to help. Then I asked if I could meet with him this past week - before the exam I took today was due - and he told me he could meet with me after lab next week! Too late to help me with this exam!

I'm feeling nearly defeated! I never had to work this hard for a decent grade... which I'm not getting!

Congratulations to all you who are doing well on your exams:balloons:! Keep up the good work and count your blessings!
