Anyone getting the RN liscense plate?

I have been entertaining this idea for several weeks. I can get a PennState Alumni Assoc. plate, I just need to think about something original to put on it. Maybe Gator,RN, or CCU-RN......

Part of the problem is that my car is so old that the license plate would be the best part of it! '

I am not sure I would like to advertise the fact the I am a Nurse.....especially on my car.......people just love to have any reason to sue......................even if it is a cool idea to get out of tickets..:) That is why we all have a neck.....to hang our scope around.

Way to expensive, since you have to join PNA to get it. And I don't want people breaking into my car thinking they might find drugs. Add to that the sue happy freakazoids out there...forget it.

I don't know...it seems a bit vain, to me. Whatever floats your boat, though.

(And why aren't there LPN plates...aren't they nurses, too?)

I agree with the previous post. I was in an accident my fault. I got out of my car to help the person, not badly injured but scared, and told her I was an RN and started doing the nursing thing. She told her lawyer who told mine since I was an RN I had lots of money LOL. She settled out of court for 5k.

PSNA Approved for Plate by DOT

How much does it cost?

A one time $30 fee is charged for each plate at the time of application. Of this fee, $20 covers the cost of the plate and $10 is a tax-deductible donation to the Nursing Foundation of Pennsylvania. The donation will be used to fund undergraduate nursing education scholarships and nursing research grants.

Memberships to profesional organizations are tax deductable. Speeding tickets aren't.

The fire dept. and police dept. have their own plates. Do you think their cars get broken into because people are looking for guns or drugs? Do you look at them and think, "What a tool?! Who cares if he's a EMT?!" Or "I hope he hits me! Firemen make the bocu bucks!

I'm not embarrased that I'm a nurse. I don't avoid telling people I am. If I had a plate that said "1HOTRN" Yeah, that's pretty vain.:chuckle But if my husband can avoid a ticket going 45 in a 30 zone beacuse a trooper thinks, "It's cool. He's "in the biz". Then it is way worth it! My insurance in the city is outrageous!

And PNA is an organization for RNs. If LPNs have an organization, they can lobby Harrisburg to get one too. And I say go for it my nurse sisters!

No I wouldn't buy the plate and I'm a little ambarrassed to admit why. I'm afraid there are nuts out there who are running around with nurse fantasies, and I'd be paranoid about one of them coming after me. No, I don't watch slasher or horror movies. I'm just really aware of too many people out there on the edge...

Being proud is one thing but using it to get out a ticket...give me a break. A few of my pals are police officers (male / female) and they just laugh...being in a profession doesn't make you except from the law. Same with these firefighter logo's etc...

Good luck but don't break the law...keep your heavy foot for square dancing or kick boxing.

I hadn't thuoght of the idea, but Im proud to be a nurse, so why not display it? I do something each day to promote nursing as a wonderful profession, so why not have it on my car?
