Anyone getting the RN liscense plate?

Anything to help me out of a ticket!!;)

I never got the EMT plate. Mainly because I didn't want people getting upset if I passed by an accident. (Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to stop at accidents if there's some way I can help, but if everybody's out and about I don't want to stop and confuse a bad situation more.) So if I ever become an RN probably won't get that plate either.

I must say though that having my paramedic jacket in the back seat has helped me in traffic stops more than once. Both times I was 15-20 over the limit. Once the officer just gave me a warning and a scolding that I should know how many accidents happen on that stretch of road. In another case the officer recommended in writing on the ticket that it be reduced to 5 over and no points. O yeah I forgot the time on the Indiana turnpike where the officer gave me a warning instead of a ticket for 20 over the limit.

I'm not in OH now, but originally licensed in ohio and had RNJEN on my plates.........haha until i moved outta state.

Whether "RN" helps you get out of a ticket depends on the individual cop. My brother is a cop who has a personal policy of not ticketing RNs (or members of the military or families of cops). I'm sure a big reason is that my mother is an RN.

I had no idea there was a license plate though. My mom got my dad a license plate with his military rank (LTC) many years ago. My mom wound up driving that car a lot to the nursing home she worked at a lot so people always assumed it meant Long Term Care. I'll have to tell my dad he can get my mom an RN plate. :D

I have been a nurse for years...and have had and still have a personalized plate on my car that basically lets people know I'm an RN. Why?....quite simply....I HAVE gotten out of several tickets simply because I'm a nurse. Professional courtesy. I travel...around the country....and let me tell you....there are a lot of speed trap zones out there. It hasn't always worked...but it has gotten me out of a ticket about 98% of the time. And I have been asked "are you a nurse" when I get pulled over. And I usually get a warning. OK...I know this makes it sound like I'm speeding everywhere and being an unsafe driver...but that is not the case at all. But traveling around and being in unfamiliar environments....has lead to a few stops where I was speeding and didn't realize it (speed zones)...because the highways everywhere are posted at different highway speeds. I've never had any weirdo...following me...nor have I ever had my car broken into. As a matter of fact....hosptial employees or patients at the clinics I've worked at...as well as people at the RV parks I stay at....love the personalized plate. I have on on my big rig RV too....that says "ruffnit".... I like the personalized plates...they're fun. ;)

And it also lets psychotics out there know who you are............someone that is mad at nurses.......

And there have been deaths thru the years just because of that. Hap personalized plates for year, and would never, ever consider putting RN on them.

Only asking for trouble, same way that you should never put just a female name either on the license plate. And ask any policeman about that.

As far as "getting out of tickets", no state trooper is going to let you go if you are driving recklessly. Speeding, perhaps, but all you have to do is hand over the wallet portion of your license alsong with your dirver's license.

Well, I've had my plate for over two years now and so far I'm not dead, never been hassled, my car hasn't been broken into and haven't been pulled over. But I think I haven't been pulled over because I'm a safe driver.

my co-worker, an RN, was pulled over by a police officer. she was speeding. we both work 3-11 shift. of course she was in a hurry to get home, and she gets home late. so the officer asked her why she's in a hurry, she said that she didnt mean to and that she was tired and told the officer that she's a nurse. the officer let her go and didnt give her a ticket.

you dont have to have a lic. plate on your car to be recognized as a nurse.

but honestly, let's all drive safe. it's just a matter of self-discipline. either way, u will never get away if you did any violations.

drive safely people and buckle up!

No I wouldn't buy the plate and I'm a little ambarrassed to admit why. I'm afraid there are nuts out there who are running around with nurse fantasies, and I'd be paranoid about one of them coming after me. No, I don't watch slasher or horror movies. I'm just really aware of too many people out there on the edge...

I agree with you 100% and that is what I told my girlfriend when she had Rn on her plate yrs ago...I thought that was crazy...too many crazy guys, a serial Rn killer!! the only time I need to get out of a ticket is on my way to work and my stethascope is on my neck!! OKAY,tomorrow I will try not to speed!

a good nurse does not have to advertise. I think you are only satisfying one's ego. I body shave does that mean I get a license plate that reads NoHairRN. Please
