  1. Oh I do understand, I collapsed at work, (about 2 yrs ago now) walking down the unit, and bam.......next thing i know i am waking up on the floor with my co-workers, house doc, and nursing supervisor hoovering all around me.......someone was asking me what meds i was on......blah, blah, blah..........all i wanted to do was run for the hills i was sooooooooooooo mortified. Again like yourself, i was rolled down to the E.R. labs drawn, cxr and ekg performed, blah, blah, blah.........had pain under the left breast radiating up my neck, down my arm......freaking out at this point......ekg was fine....cxr showed my diaphram was inflammed which was pusing against my rib cage.....hence the pain.....labs showed low K level, elevated bun, and low H/H......given iv fluids, some potassium...blah, blah, blah.........I was also short with the staff....worked with them on many a float night.........but my 1st night back at work......I had pizza delivered to both my home floor, and the E.R. Oh and P.S. I always make sure now I am hair free
  2. Ok guys.........maybe I was a litle quick to blow up........being on the pleasantly plump side(need to lose 90lbs.-5'9").......:chuckle.....I just took offense to the fact that fat people have problems having sex.....maybe some do depending or how over weight they are.......I myself have taken care of my fair share of obese patients...and yes they do require more help with such things as inserting a cath....or bigger gowns...I just think that we being healthcare professionals should be a lttle more understanding......and not so quick to make sarcastic comments about people's less than perfect bodies. Just my
  3. Is it just me or does anyone else find this post a little offensive.......basically this poster is stating....how could fat people possible have sex.......some people......can make such ignorant comments...:angryfire

  8. ni way...that is insane.......do i dare ask what happened?

  10. Hi there, I work LTC have been at this job for 25 months.....work 7p-7a.......IV cert....make $23.50....with shift diff included. I like what I do.....did acute care got burnt out......will not go back to acute until I have my RN. (Dec 2006).
  11. I am proud to be a nurse.........always am, and always will be.
  12. WHERE I WORK.......IF THE RESIDENT HAS A STANDING ORDER FOR NITRO ...I FOLLOW THAT ORDER...IT NO RELIEF AFTER THE 3RD NITRO......I WILL THEN SEND OUT TO THE E.R. THEN NOTIFY THE DOC.......IF PT HAS NO STANDING ORDER FOR NITRO.....I SEND THEM OUT RIGHT AWAY....THEN NOTIFY THE DOC....I WOULD RATHER BE SAFE THAN SORRY..........LAST PT I SENT OUT THAT COMPLAINED OF CHEST PAINS...HAD NO STANDING ORDER...SO I SENT HIM OUT....NOTIFYIED M.D. AFTER.....(WHICH HE YELLED AT ME FOR, FOR NOT NOTIFYING HIM 1ST) AND THE PT WAS ADMITTED TO R/O MI...WHICH HE TURNED OUT TO BE + FOR LATER........SO ONCE AGAIN BETTER SAFE THEN SORRY.
  13. BUT WHERE I WORK, CARDIAC STEP DOWN...THE ONLY NURSES THAT SEEM TO GET BREAKS AT LEAST EVERY HOUR ARE THE SMOKERS. ALSO, AS THE NIGHT GOES ON THEIR BREAKS GET LONGER....SO BY 7:30 THEY HAVE HAD MAYBE 2 AND A HALF HOURS OFF THE FLOOR....AND THE NON SMOKERS (THAT WOULD BE ME ) GET LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO TAKE A PEE PEE BREAK...AND EAT SOMETHING IN BETWEEN THE CALL LIGHTS GOING OFF, OR AN IV NEEDING LOOKED AT........OH, AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF......IF THE NON-SMOKER DOES DECIDE TO GET OFF THE FLOOR FOR MAYBE 15 MINUTES TO GET SOME FRESH AIR.......YOU GET THE LOOK OF A THOUSAND DEATHS FROM ALL THE SMOKERS..........SO YES IT IS AS BAD AS WHAT YOU HAVE HEARD........ THANKS FOR LETTING ME VENT :)
