Head to Toe Red Scrubs

Nurses Professionalism

Specializes in Pediatric.

A coworker admonished another coworker the other day for wearing head to toe red scrubs, solid print. She said not only could it elevate someone's heart rate, it looked kind of sensual. Is this ridiculous? We don't have a dress code that features color restrictions. The only thing frowned upon is cartoon characters. I've heard looking at red can raise your pulse (and looking at blue can "calm" you) but this isn't a cardiac unit.

We have an entire university school of nursing that wears red scrubs. Not only that they are, for the most part, attractive young ladies. Maybe we should let the dean of nursing know that they might kill someone. 😳

OMG hahahaha.

My father could not stand the color red, would go ballistic, my mother knew not to wear red. Apparently, somewhere along the line he got too tied up with the "Lady in Red" syndrome. Too bad he is no longer with us so I could discuss this with him.

Specializes in Acute Care, Rehab, Palliative.

Really? I have never heard of anything so silly.

If it were me, I'd laugh at her admonishment and wear the red scrubs as often as possible.

When this overly-critical nurse has some kind of psychotic break.....don't say you didn't see it coming! :cautious:

Specializes in hospice.

Of all stupid things to criticize....

Just had a thought....I don't even have red scrubs but now I might go buy some. They'd certainly be handy for those heavy flow days when I can't quite get to the bathroom quick enough.....maybe that's why she wears them. :p

I know a nurse who does this everyday. He has long red hair too lol

@adele, does the nurse who admonished the coworker have an interest in color therapy and chakras?
