I got an email from a recruiter from another hospital TO MY WORK EMAIL!!! I have no idea how they got my email. I seriously only use it for work. I know that they have access to our emails and I don't want my current job to think that I am looking. I love my job and am not planning on leaving anytime soon.

Freaked me out.

General email addy's for staff in any given facility are not that hard to find. All a recruiter needs is the names of RN's (easily found online through the State records) registered with the State, and a few clicks later one can find so much more.

Relax.

Headhunters used to call our facility all the time. It's their job to cast a wide net.

Besides, if you're afraid IT is actually monitoring your inbox, it might look GOOD that you're desired by another facility

Meh, if they know your name and have seen how your facility formats email addresses, they can probably figure yours out. I do that all the time when I need to email doctors. I know how email addresses are formatted for every hospital I deal with. If it's one whose format is [email protected], unless the person I'm emailing is John Smith, I'm probably going to be able to guess their email address.

Lots of ways they could get your name and figure out your email, especially if you have a Linked In, monster, or other similar electronic resource. Maybe from a conference or an organization you belong to.

I get calls several times a year, occasional emails. It never hurts to call them back and have a brief chat, even if you aren't interested right now.

OP it is OK, you are not the only one who is getting the email. I learned I could jump ship and get paid better because recruiters were cold calling my ED a few years back to speak to me and/or my co-workers. Plus, if IT is monitoring your activities, I doubt he/she cares a recruiter is attempting to recruit a RN from their facility. IT has more stressing things to be concerned with such as employees accessing malware and infecting their system.

I just got a phone call the other day, specifically asking for me by first and last name, from a recruiter. I told him it was very inappropriate to call me at my current place of employment and he then asked if he could call me at home. I told him no I'm not interested in leaving my current job an hung up. I don't know who he was or how he knew my work phone number but he did.
