    Hi,
Thanks for sharing. I am planning to take LPN in Michigan. Do you know which college has LPN program in and around Detroit? Where did your bro graduate from?

    Thanks

I sure wish you wouldn't be telling people how much LPN's make in Michigan, everyone will move here and the jobs will be much harder for you and i too find!! LOL It does seem many states pay LPN's a very low wage, i'm in Michigan, attending a school in Ohio, where they only pay their LPN's $15.00 an hour, no wonder there isn't any students from Ohio, most LPN schools in Ohio are filled with Michigan students.

A friend of mine started at a LTC in SW VA and is making $20 an hour with benefits and $24 with no benefits. I could start there as an RN and make considerably more but it is an hour drive thru windy back roads. We had 10 inches of snow 2 weeks ago and she had to spend the weekend there. I can't do that since I have young children and an elderly parent living with me. Hopefully I can find something similar closer to home.

I agree, even though it's still low, the agency that I formerly worked for paid Lpn's $32 per visit. $20 is really low.

I got $22 back in 1996 here in NY, now they pay me $28 as of 2009 with benefits.

I have been getting 27.50 as a pre visit nurse at a VNA. No benifits. The most I have ever earned was 28 and I have 10 years experience. I'm in the Boston metro area. Can't wait to get out of school, then I will be getting 35 dollars a visit!!

Hi. I'm new here and would like to get into the healthcare field. I was thinking of going to school for LPN. The problem is that they only have one school here in Charlotte, NC where you can go to. The other problem is that it costs $29,000 to attend. Am I wasting time to go to this school because I'm thinking about the what-ifs? Like what if the starting pay is low in Charlotte, NC. Is there anybody on here from Charlotte that knows what the starting pay for LPN is? $29,000 is a lot of money for an LPN program if you ask me, but I want to get my foot in the door some way. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me.

$29,000 is way to much for a for an Lpn program. I paid $7400 for my lpn program, I would check with your local community college for an Rn program because thats way to much. Goodluck though
