There are some really terrific phrases here. I have 2 to add ---

for work - when in doubt, err on the SAFE side. Has guided me well during my career.

for life in general - life's too short, so eat dessert first.

    I am never alone.
    God's will, not mine.

Singing "You Are My All in All" helps too.

I kinda let my focus drift from God that last week and I had a meltdown yesterday. This thread is well timed for me.

OP, I love the "just keep swimming" mantra too.

My Mantra: everything happens for a reason and everything is in God's hand... since there are things that are beyond our control, it's easier for me to accept both negative and positive things!

"If not me, then who..." 1st Lt. Travis Manion, USMC

I heard this over the summer while on staff with a youth baseball leadership camp at the Naval Academy and I feel it applies to many aspects of the profession - the 'shortage', patient care / advocacy, etc. This was also the closing line of my personal statement essay in my application.

Smile though your heart is aching
    Smile even though it's breaking.
When there are clouds in the sky
    you'll get by.
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
    Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shining through
    For you.
Light up your face with gladness,
    Hide every trace of sadness.
Although a tear may be ever so near
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying.
You'll find that life is still worthwhile-
    If you just smile
