How much sleep do you get?

I have found myself requiring at least 9 hours of sleep each night, 10 is ideal. I don't function well on anything less than 8. Does anyone else need this much sleep too? Or even get this much sleep?

I hate yawning during clinicals. I felt bad when a patient was talking to me and I kept yawning and yawning.:o

I need at least 7hrs a night. My wife used to give me a hard time because she can function on 5hrs. She thought I was a wimp, but I researched it and each person requires a different amount of sleep to function properly. They say that people who get more sleep live longer!

I know what you mean with the clinicals because ours is at 6:30am and I'm a swing shift person. That's way too early. I yawn like a madman.

I know what you feel like. I require 9-10 hours of sleep too. It becomes a real pain in the butt because I know I have so much stuff to do and it feels like I am always sleeping. There are a couple nights I only get 6 hours and I usually fall asleep in class the next day. I fight it as long as I can, but it just doesn't work. Wish they could invent something so I could sleep less and function just as well. Caffiene doesn't do the trick.

Sleep? What's that?

Honestly, I'm lucky if I get 5 hours. I would prefer 8 or 9, but that just doesn't seem to happen---especially this semester.

8-9 is ideal for me, 7 or less I feel foggy. Thursday is my "hell day" - lecture at school 8-11 a, clinical 2-8 p, then back for clinical again 7 a to 3 p. By Friday afternoon I'm dragging, it all starts to catch up.

I like a solid 8 hours but it hasn't happened in a loooong time. I look like death warmed over anymore, and I think lack of adequate sleep is behind it all. :o

You sound just like me. Lately it's been 4-5 hours a night. 8 hours is sleeping in now.

I usually sleep 5-6 hrs of sleep the night...Lately I get to bed at midnight and wake up at 5:30am. Even when I can sleep all morning...I still only get 6hrs sleep at the most. :(

Before nursing school, I could function just fine on 5 hours of sleep, but now, if I don't get atleast 8, you better stay back 'cause it isn't pretty. I think it is the mental exhaustion instead of the physical exhaustion. :zzzzz

I got 4 to 5 hours of sleep per day during nursing school but I worked full time with 2 babies lOL. Could not do that now LOL.

I can function on 7 or 6 hours of sleep with no problem... But prefer 8 hours because I feel much more better and energetic...

But I can no more do all nighters, unless I'm anxious and can't sleep. As long as I can avoid it I will not do all nighters... I have never heard my husband say I slept well last night... lol! So I think I'm lucky!

I do well on 7 hours sleep, but I'm lucky if I can get a good 5 hours on school/clinical days.
