I have found myself requiring at least 9 hours of sleep each night, 10 is ideal. I don't function well on anything less than 8. Does anyone else need this much sleep too? Or even get this much sleep?
I hate yawning during clinicals. I felt bad when a patient was talking to me and I kept yawning and yawning.
I'm with Kris -- as I get older, I need less (or maybe it's due to having children?).
I rarely sleep 8 - even when I can, I still wake up and can't get back to sleep. When I "sleep in", I'm thrilled with 7. Usually I operate on 6-7 hours. Less than 6 and my eyes are like sandpaper all day.
I am good on 7 hours of sleep. I don't bother pulling all nighters anymore because Iit's just not worth it and I can't do it like I used to be able to when I was 18-21. Anything more than 7 makes me groggy. Next semester will be interesting w/ work, school, and clinicals!! Anything less than 6 makes me a grumpy, walking zombie who gets migraines!!

I think you also need to be careful that you don't sleep too much. That too can make you feel sluggish.
I'm finding that as I am getting older that I don't sleep more than 6 or 7 hours. If I do have a chance to sleep in for 8+ hours, I actually feel worse than if I only get 5 hours (but then come 3 pm, I always feel like I could use a catnap).
