There is a current thread entitled Things that annoy me on allnurses. Members have been pretty vocal on that thread. We really are interested in your feedback. You are why we are here. You are what has helped to make the site what it is today.

We are always striving to find out more about our membership.......who you are, how you got here, why you stayed, what you want, what you like. We want to provide features and opportunities that are of interest to you. With such a large membership, we know we can't please everyone all the time But we want to provide a place that has something for most of you....and that takes a lot of different types of things.

We hope that even though you may not like some of the things we offer, some of the new things we have tried or will be trying, you will be supportive. Let us know what you like and what you don't like. But please be respectful in your communications.

To help us as we consider things in the future, please take a few minutes to answer a few questions.

1. Why did you come to allnurses?

2. Why did you stay at allnurses?

3. How long have you been a member?

4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses? Features etc

5. What would you like for us to change or add to allnurses?

We want to continue to be the voice of the nurses as we all strive to raise the level of our profession. We thank you for your input!

I came here because another member who I know in RL directed me to the SN Forum.

I stayed because of the SN nurses. They are amazing and helpful and funny.

I will be a year here in September. Noob alert!

What I enjoy the most are the people. I have said this many times. My reasons for being here are PURELY selfish. I feel like I have a place to go where people understand me. A SN is a lonely job. Yes, I have great co-workers, old nurse friends and RL girls, but I need a Daily Nurse Fix.

I like the PM feature. The other day I was a bit down and 2 of my favorite friends here both asked me what was wrong and if I needed to talk. That alone boosted me up.

I'm on another non nursing board where our motto is "Come for the snark and stay for the love" and I would say that definitely applies here.

Add or change? You guys hear that stuff from us daily. Not gonna answer.

I found all nurses through Google actually. I was just beginning to look into nursing schools. I think you guys have all stollen my rose colored glasses, which is great. It's honestly easier to handle the stress of school and some job situations when I'm not walking into a situation thinking that nurses are angles and that this will be the most amazing profession at all times.

I stopped visiting last semester because I found myself on the site/app when I should have been studying.

I keep coming back because we talk about things that the rest of my family and friends don't want to hear about all the time. I also feel like I'm packing away little nuggets of knowledge when I read some of the

threads.

EDIT: Ok I thought of something else. I'm not sure if I'm just not tech savvy, if it's my phone, or what, but when someone posts a link to an article on here, all I see is a tiny blank square. The whole article will show up for a second and then disappear. Anyone else have this issue on the app?

I think I became a member of allnurses in 2011. I came here when I was considering becoming a nurse. I started in the pre-nursing and HESI forums, moved on to the general nursing student forum, then to the NCLEX forum, and am now in the general nursing forum and the first year after licensure forum the most. I say this to emphasize one of the things I like about allnurses. There is something for every stage of becoming and being a nurse. I feel like I have and am "growing up" as a nurse here. That is very nice. I am not one of the most "vocal" members here. But I learn a lot and always hope I can one day contribute more when I know more.

There is a realness to the posts on this site that can cut both ways. In some ways, I feel that I have been well warned and therefore had a chance to prepare for some challenges. In other ways, when I look back, I see that I became unnecessarily worried and scared based on what I read. That is not a suggestion for something that needs changing. It's just a comment about my personal experience here.

Overall, I am very thankful for this site and hope it continues on for a long time.

I found allnurses while Googling about my school's nursing program. Some of the first results were different threads from allnurses so I, of course, read them. I've been reading and lurking around since late 2013 and didn't make a profile until about 9 months ago.

I stay here because this website is a wealth of knowledge. What to do, what not to do, things to expect. I like having a place I can talk to people like me. I'm not applying to my program until August so at this point I am still the dreaded pre-nursing student, but I haven't stayed in my designated areas of AN, sorry. I like reading and learning and talking too much.

I also realized I am not going in numerical order, I apologize once again. I feel as though I haven't been around long enough to recommend any changes or anything. I just found out a few weeks ago that there is another side to AN. The only thing I suggest is making an app for the blue side as well. I m usually on here on my phone and that may be why I was unaware of it. I have found some wise and caring people on here who take time out to answer people like me, and I appreciate everyone who tries to help others.

2. Why did you stay at allnurses?

5. What would you like for us to change or add to allnurses?

1. I don't remember, Google maybe? Lol. Isn't that terrible. :p

2. I get a lot of great information from other nurses. I didn't even know about or the PVT before AN.

3. It'll be a year this August.

4. I enjoy learning from more experienced nurses the best.

5. I mainly use the app. I would like to be able to 'unlike' a post. I can't tell you how many times I've accidentally 'liked' a post but then had to go to the website to 'unlike' the post.

1. Why did you come to allnurses?

I came across allnurses as a student. I think I was researching something, but don't remember.

2. Why did you stay at allnurses? I love drama. :lol2: And, less exciting but I love to learn and constantly improve on the art and science of nursing, and there is always some scenario someone's asking about that is new to me.

3. How long have you been a member?

about 9 years

4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses? Features etc I really like what I see on some of the specialty forums such as ED and critical care nursing. I just wish people posted in them more often.

5. What would you like for us to change or add to allnurses? A sub forum for clinical scenarios, case studies, etc. would be awesome.

I first found ALLNURSES.COM on the 'Alta Vista' search engine when i got my first computer in 1998. My user name was 'spacenurse'.

In 2004 I changed my user name and got a new join date.

From the start I found colleagues away from work to discuss all types of nursing issues with.

I have learned so much clinical and professional information and perspective on thinking about issues here.

I never mind writing posts to answer a question. If the poster who asked doesn't read it someone else may.

In 2003 the "Current Events" and another thread were started. They became the "Break Room". I enjoy joking, sharing, and discussing non nursing topics with fellow nurses.

I keep coming back because there is always something I enjoy or learn from here.

I came in 2004 when I found AN listed on the facility's intranet "resources" page. I lurked for a bunch of years until I wandered over to what became the Breakroom. I don't think I've shut up since, though I still do way more lurking than I do posting.

I stay because it reminds me of how much fun it was to hang out and listen to the grownups talk when they forgot I was there. Also, diving in on contentious subjects that interest me help me to clarify my own thinking.

There have been a lotta changes for me in 11 years, and AN was a part of it.

1. Why did you come to allnurses?

Found it on a Google search, although I can't remember what I was searching for.

2. Why did you stay at allnurses?

Learned a bit from some of the other OR posters when I was first starting out- and since the orientation program was so long and I was still reading, I just haven't left.

3. How long have you been a member?

9-10 years.

4. What do you enjoy the most about allnurses? Features etc

I love the funny, tongue in cheek threads. I also love the threads that are true resources, whether for my own specialty or to learn about others. It's nice to be able to vent to those who can understand without compromising anonymity or having something get back to the boss. Venting to a non-nursing person just isn't the same.

5. What would you like for us to change or add to allnurses?

I would love to see an option where members could nominate posts (any post, whether the first post in a thread or a reply that just really explains something or really stands out) for article status. There are a lot of wonderful posters on here whose posts truly deserve that status, but the posters themselves didn't post it as an article, or because it's a reply to another post can't. Gives the membership a bit more opportunity to have input into what topics are important.

Yes, I didn't mention The Blue Side, but I really like it.

I mostly lurk (outside of the Games) and there's some hardcore discussions going on over there. Good stuff.

Yep, as soon as I found out that the app doesn't go to the blue side, I made that puppy jiggle and "poofed" it into oblivion.

I find it excellent practice in curbing my baser instincts.
