What's your favorite lip product for work?

I don't like lipsticks. I prefer tinted glosses or lip stains or sheer washes like Clinique's Almost line.

My lips are getting so dried out. (what is it with the air in the hospitals?) I usually take a juicy tube mini with me, but it's not lasting and I'm going through them faster than I do when I wear them on my time b/c of the super dry air. So there's a cost factor.

I want something that I can swipe on blind and keep going. Stains usually are too drying Sephora makes a decent one but still I like more of a gloss.) I like the Dr. Smith's tinted rose balm, but that's not sanitary to take to work.

Any recs?

I am addicted to Bath and Body Works Mentha Lip Tint. It's a gloss that's slightly tinted (Magenta Mint and Rose Shimmer are my fave's), but the best part is the yummy peppermint! It helps so much block out the smells of the hospital environment and feels awesome and tingly on the lips. :nurse:

Ooooo this sounds good. The next time I go to Bath and Body works i'm going to check it out.

I vote Burts Bee's with Pomegranate Oil. I have tried Bonne Bell Dr Pepper, and its got a nice tint, but tastes gross and is really filmy. The Palmers Lip Butter is cool, but it wears off really fast. I've even tried the Burts Bee's lip shimmer, and didn't care for it because it felt grainy, thin, and didn't last very long. If you can, go to a place that will let you try it out because colors are pretty different than they are on the display, and walk around with it for a while to see if you like how it feels. The Burts Bee's with Pomegranate Oil is now my go to "guy". Its got a bit of pinkish tint, and is really moisturizing.

This Just Bitten lip stain, I just bought some, how do you make more come out of the color side? It doesn't seem like there is much to it, like after you use what is in that tip it is done. I thought you could twist the tube to get more color but I guess not. That stuff is kinda expensive not to have more color than that!!

Yikes. I just bought that as well. I haven't gotten that far yet to run out of color. I'll let you know if mine lasts longer, because the tip seems to be full with liquid on mine at least. You're right though, its too expensive to use if it doesn't last long.:(

lol that actually makes chapped lips worse!

I like to use natural lip balms since I have it on 24/7. Try Palmer's cocoa butter stick. It looks like a giant glue stick, but it moisturizes like no other.

really now!? sometimes I just tuck both of my upper and lower lips to my teeth and let the my own product (saliva) moisturize it. I havent gotten chapped lips since I tuck my lips for several minutes.

I rarely have chapped lips

Sorry, but I'm cracking up trying to picture this... :lol2:

Clinique's classic Black Honey "almost lipstick" (gloss in a stick, not on a wand)... reminds me of a MAC creme sheen and is like butter on my lips :)

Yes, licking your lips makes them more dry in the long run.

I am more of a gloss or balm person as well, never really straight up "lipsticks." I don't like stains, either, have never found the color to be neutral enough and I think they are drying, in the long run, even if you use balms on top of them.

Some of the suggestions made I don't agree with (I find both the Bath and Body works and Victoria's Secret glosses to be VERY STICKY, and overall wasn't happy with Burt's Bees...can't remember why at this point, though). I have tried MANY different types over the years.

For a balm that can go in my pocket for frequent reapplication, I like Nivea balms the best. They make your lips soft and are not waxy or sticky at all. Someone mentioned the clear gloss that comes in the peach tube, and that's nice, too, but I am referring to the balms (Kiss of moisture, kiss of color, and kiss of shimmer are the varieties, I believe). The Kiss of Color has a berry tint, but it is light enough that you can put it on without looking, and has a natural color that just looks like a dark flush, almost (hard to explain). The Kiss of Shimmer I think is just too light (same with the Shimmer Chapstick varieties). For gloss, I like Revlon ColorStay Mineral Lipglaze as my first choice.

Another vote for Burt's Bees.. just the regular minty one with no color.

Forgot to say....if your lips are severely dry, try lanolin nipple cream like lansinoh. My husband made fun of me without mercy and said I used "boobie balm"....until our last ski trip when he begged me to try the lanolin. Not for every day, but is great in winter.
