I don't like lipsticks. I prefer tinted glosses or lip stains or sheer washes like Clinique's Almost line.

My lips are getting so dried out. (what is it with the air in the hospitals?) I usually take a juicy tube mini with me, but it's not lasting and I'm going through them faster than I do when I wear them on my time b/c of the super dry air. So there's a cost factor.

I want something that I can swipe on blind and keep going. Stains usually are too drying Sephora makes a decent one but still I like more of a gloss.) I like the Dr. Smith's tinted rose balm, but that's not sanitary to take to work.

Any recs?

I use strawberry chapstick. I'm not a nurse yet, but I use this lip balm every day. Keeps my lips real soft, but it's not tinted. You might look at Neutrogena's Moisture Shine Lip Sheers - they are lip tints that come in a variety of colors and keep your lips hydrated as well. I sometimes use this in Peach Sorbet to brighten up my face.

Burt's Bees lip balm is the best! It keeps my lips really moist, and lasts forever.

I just tried the "Just Bitten" Lip Stain. It has the lip stain on one side (which does last pretty well) and a lip balm on the other side. Unfortunatley in day two the lip balm part already broke - but im going to make it work. The stain lasts pretty well and I like it so far. Hope you find what you're looking for.

I've seen those. How are they on color? If you've ever tried Bonnie Bell's Dr. Pepper, I like that but it doesn't seem to last.

I like a rosy or berry color, and even caramel if it's deep enough. I'm pretty pale, I need something that makes me look healthier than the patients, :D but still neutral.

Yes! that's the kind of color look I like, "just bitten"...it wasn't drying for a stain? What color/s/ seem more neutral?

Another vote in favor of anything made by Burt's Bees.

lol, They do have a lot of color, and have not dried them out yet. The names are great of course, the color I use is "Gothic" which, is like in between a pink and a red (but not overly bright or offensive - so long as you don't overuse it of course). There are some more blush-brown style ones as well.

I'm going to look into this. I like peach as well. I'm pale, but have peach undertones, not pink go figure. So if it's a warmer rose or pink I can pull it off. I like the fact you said it brightens, I need that, I look like a ghost without anything.

I just lost my favorite lipstick and I just bought it yesterday! It was Revlon in a very neutral/rosy color and really nice and glossy but not slick. I'm going to go out and buy anther one -- it's hard to find something I like.

I also use that Revlon gloss that comes in the square tube with the stick dispenser wand, I've become very good at just grabbing it and swabbing a little on while I'm on the run.

And, I'm seeing that I use a lot of Revlon here, although I never thought about it, but I also use the just bitten lip stain. It's not like those long-lasting lip stains that are so drying, it's almost like a magic marker that just stains your lips. I really like it, but you have to be careful because the colors are a lot brighter when you put them on than what they seem in the tube. You also need some chapstick or balm to wear over it to make it look softer.

That sounds pretty. I have a NARS Gothika, a tad too dark for my work look. Maybe if we could wear darker scrubs, or oh say any other color but WHITE! Seriously, white on white = bad look for me anyway.

The Burt's Bee's sound good. I'd like some color references if you could though. Knowing me I'd go buy 5 and find 2 that really work.

Regarding color...I'm a neutral-colors fan. I usually wear something along the champagne-light pink spectrum, but I do have a couple mauve-rosy things as well. Guess it depends on skin tone as well. I've got pink skin undertones and dark hair/eyes.
