I don't like lipsticks. I prefer tinted glosses or lip stains or sheer washes like Clinique's Almost line.

My lips are getting so dried out. (what is it with the air in the hospitals?) I usually take a juicy tube mini with me, but it's not lasting and I'm going through them faster than I do when I wear them on my time b/c of the super dry air. So there's a cost factor.

I want something that I can swipe on blind and keep going. Stains usually are too drying Sephora makes a decent one but still I like more of a gloss.) I like the Dr. Smith's tinted rose balm, but that's not sanitary to take to work.

Any recs?

I bought a three pack of "just Carrots" I think they are called. They are a lip balm with tint. I bought them on clearance at Target and really like the way they feel and last. And the don't taste like carrots :)

I use Nivea Lip moisturizer. (it comes in a peach color tube) I am addicted to lip balms...but found this is my favorite for work. I've bought 4 tubes. If I change purses and forget it- I stop on the way to work and get a new one. It's clear, not sticky, and keeps my lips moisturized.

I actually don't like Burts...I find it waxy..and can't stand the feel on my lips.

Funny, I was about to write the exact same thing and our names are so similar! Not a fan of Burt's Bees and love the Nivea stuff called A Kiss of Shine. I frequently lose or "contaminate" lip glosses at work so I leave the expensive ones at home.

Other cheap favorites:

1. Bonne Bells

2. Covergirl Wetslicks

3. Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush

4. Bath and Body Works lip glosses

5. The little petroleum jelly packets at work add a nice shine in a pinch ;)

Dior Addict Lip Glow works wonderfully. It changes to a color that works with your skin tone (IDK how it knows, but it is awesome). It is a lip balm consistency that gives a great amount of moisture and color, without looking garish.

Specializes in everywhere.

another vote for Burt's Bees, I like the peppermint, some of my co-workers use the Burt's Bees in the pomegranate flavor.

I like the Bath & Bodyworks glosses for fun.

As for Burt's Bees stuff - I don't hate it and it has a nice sort of taste, but it does feel oddly heavy/waxy compared to other options. I've found that making sure it's warm when I put it on lessens that issue, so if I use it I make sure to keep it in a pants pocket where it can be kept constantly warm by my body heat.

Specializes in babysitting.

some women i know love dr. murads pomegranate lip therapy. my sisters use mac lip glass which looks nice.

Soft Lips! It is dirt cheap and they do have a few tinted shades!

Being a guy and my lips get dry as well ( I'm human ) i use Burt's Bees i think it works great. These are my thoughts use them as you wish

Smith's Rosebud Salve in the tube! You can get it at Sephora.com for $6, and it;s so much more sanitary than the pots.

Specializes in LTC, OB, Mother Baby.

Bigelow's Mentha Lip Shine, comes in different tints and it's only 7.50 at Bath and Body Works! It lasts forever too!

Specializes in Peds/outpatient FP,derm,allergy/private duty.

A and D ointment!! Not really. ..I like Burt's Bees, too. I used to swear by an old Max Factor clear tube lip gloss - long gone I'm sure which brings me to this point --

I just lost my favorite lipstick and I just bought it yesterday! It was Revlon in a very neutral/rosy color and really nice and glossy but not slick. I'm going to go out and buy anther one -- it's hard to find something I like.

If you're anything like me, you'll find that often when you find just the perfect brand/color/price/consistency etc of a beauty product they will discontinue it. It's like a law or something. I suggest you stock up. ;)

Specializes in Psych ICU, addictions.

Revlon Colorstay if I want the color to last.

Tarte Lip Stains are far less drying than the traditional ink-marker type stains. They may not last as long, but they wear far better (this is, they don't leave you with "ring around the lips" syndrome).

As far as neutral lip balm/color, the Burt's Bees Lip Glosses are great--enough moisture without stickiness and a hint of color. IMO Zesty Red is the best shade: enough color yet you can apply it blind.
