Do you ever think of something that you read on all nurses at inappropriate times?

Last night I had a patient whom was HIV and hep c positive. I went in to their room and there was a piece of gauze and tape on the ground with a bit of dried blood on it...

I thought to myself, "that poster the other day would have blown an aneurysm"

I really tried my best to hold it together so I wouldn't look like a lunatic laughing randomly and inappropriately.

I have done that😄 if I hear someone say something really 'interesting' (misinformed) about nursing I'll think "ooo if you posted that thought up on allnurses, you might learn a thing or two".

Yep, AN occasionally creeps into real life. I found myself referring to a know it all already student as a "special snowflake." Never heard that term anywhere else but here and got a couple strange looks.

When **** happens, I always think about what a great story it will make for AN in about six months -- or however long it takes me to be able to laugh at it.

An acquaintance I met on the job that I discovered frequents this place, likes to do some off site AN story telling with me. Whenever we talk, we have to fill each other in on AN tidbits.

My daughter actually did a paper for her psych 101 class on "special snowflake" syndrome- I think she tied it into narcissistic personality disorder. Or something like that.

You people do pop into my head at weird times. I can't decide if that's good or bad.... :wacky:
