4. how much do you make an hour? my base pay is $21.00, but with differentials for the shift and days of the week i work, it's usually between $24.00 and $29.00.

6. what do you like about your job? i love the infinite ability to grow. i feel like i will never see it all/know it all/etc. i also love the paid time off! it never seems to run out, no matter how much i use it, and it's something that i'm not used to having.

7. what don't you like about your job? i dislike dealing with people who have very high standards for others and very low standards for themselves. the worst nurses seem to be the most outspoken and critical of others. i also dislike having responsibility with no power. for example, i must make sure x medication is given by x time, but pharmacy doesn't profile it or send it up until it's two hours past due (despite my multiple calls). i could give 8000 more examples of responsibility with no power, but i'll stop there.

Specializes in ED, Critical care.

I Am a BSN RN for 20 years with certifications in critical care and med-surg

I make 33$ base salary and 8 dollars differential to float to EVERY unit (about 40) in a level 1 trauma hospital with magnet status in PA.

I made $95,000 last year with about 8 hours/month OT average

I like my job because I have gained much knowledge in many areas of nursing from ED to med-surg to Critical care specialty units because of all the floating I do here.

I don't like all the back-stabbing and caddiness and how us "floats" are used and abused with the worst assignmnents on the units.
