Think one of the magnet hospital research projects could be "snot, like breastmilk-the body's own nutrition?"
OK, no flames from the breastfeeding contingent, but really, it could be.....why else would the nose be draining right above the mouth?

My kids didn't eat boogers but grew up on a farm running barefoot in the manure. They eat things most of us would never eat, bugs, food off the floor etc.. I can count on one hand how many times they were at the Dr. and was put on anitbiotics. They are now 32-28 years old and still healthy. I can only feel they self immuned themselves.

someone earlier mentioned how animals eat their placentas; this behavior is a protective mechanism because when an animal gives birth in the wild, it is prudent to dispose of the placenta because it gives off a strong blood odor and would attract predators. Eating the evidence is the only option since in the wild there are no toilets to flush, Hefty trash bags or the like. This behavior has become so instinctive that animals who are not even at risk (i.e. domesticated dogs and cats) do it anyway.
now I cannot imagine a booger presenting a survival risk to the owner under any circumstances! and gimme a break - eating boogers for their immune properties?
Still, I have to wonder if picking and eating is as bad as, or any worse than, the countless idiots who don't wash their hands after pottying! or those who don't wear seat belts!
