Equally gross...
Once when I was doing a dressing change on a patient, he picked a scab off of his body and ate it. I about puked!!!!!!!

Animals eat their placentas...my dog gave birth and she ate her placentas. I'm sure its not necessary and its pretty disgusting, but supposedly it has a lot of nutrients in it.
My step-daughter did that with her first baby. Her father and I did not comment on this (IMHO)very strange practice. Her midwife stated to us, that it was acceptable and better for Shirley (SD). I was just glad she did not offer any to any of us. What would be the proper protocol for declining boiled placenta?? Dear Abby........

this wanted to make me throw up. if you have mrsa or staph inside your nose picking it is a good way to break the skin and get one deep nasty infection.

I want to see a human research study regarding this. Any takers? :chuckle As I was thinking, if nasal secretions can boost the immune system when it is eaten, imagine what eating the pus out of an infected wound would do?
