I know just how that feels. :D Glad you found your way to the door.......now on to your next adventure!

Specializes in Telemetry, OB, NICU.

Good for you. I am pretty stressed at my job and would like to switch to my desired specialty. I look forward to that day.

May I ask which specialty your job was?

Good for you :)! Enjoy your future endeavors elsewhere!

Specializes in LTC and School Health.

Ofcourse, I get a call from my previous job needing info. about something. Ugh, why can't this place just leave me alone!!!

Anyway, I was in Long-term care.

Specializes in Adult/Ped Emergency and Trauma.

Congrats!

I loved that you said I "Was," and it sounds like you might try something new. I only say this because of your chosen screenname. . .

I think that when "He" sees us going out of our comfort zones to see what else is out there in his awesome creation, some really overwhelmingly huge blessings are awaiting you out there!!!!!!!!

I am always so proud to see a nurse try a different hat on, and try another field of nursing. I can't understand the posted threads that are SOOOOOO miserable where they are, but kling on to blind hopeless hope that something might just "change" and it will become an easier, rewarding, and fulfilling job out of the blue. If something isn't working, the easiest thing to change is ourselves, and OUR situations! I know "He" will bless you in your pursuits.

I hope you find the perfect fit, and I know you will, just follow your heart, and do some soul searching! This could be a life changing event for you, and you've earned it. The path you chose wasn't the "easy" route. God Bless your next steps.

Thanks you are so kind. I'll be starting a CVICU internship in May ( Lord willing). Until then I have filled my schedule up with being a sub school nurse, which I thoroughly enjoy.

Specializes in ICU.

Well, don't burn bridges. I once left a job I hated; was so elated to leave. A few years later, due to circumstances beyond my control, dang if I didn't end up going right back to that job!! There used to be a saying in nursing: Only the faces change; the job never does. Thank goodness I left on good terms and worked out a proper notice the first time.

Specializes in Peri-op/Sub-Acute ANP.

I stayed for a long time in a job I hated. I stayed out of fear that there would be nothing better "out there". There was! I still remember how fantastic it felt when I walked out of that place on my last day. Onwards and upwards!

Specializes in "Wound care - geriatric care.

Some places really suck and are toxic

Good luck

Specializes in Med/Surg, Rehab, Case management.

Where I work is like that, but I can't leave because I don't have enough experience. I feel trapped.

Specializes in Pedi.

I worked my last night shift at my current job last night. I said good-bye to nearly everyone this morning as most of them won't be there when I work my official last shift on Sunday. I felt a huge weight lifted off my shoulders as soon as I made the decision to leave and even more so when I gave my notice. I imagine it will be even better on Sunday.
