Nursing Students Chamberlain College

I am starting online RN-BSN via Chamberlain College of Nursing from July. Just wondering if any nurses out there who will be starting the program or in the program>

Any suggestion/idea is appreciated as it will be my first online program...........

Thank you!!!!

Specializes in Pediatrics, Cardiology, Geriatrics.

I'm finishing my second term this week (I took NR351, SOCS350, and history last term; MATH221 (stats) and NR361 (informatics) this term). I'm rocking a 4.0, which makes me very happy. Stats isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Just make sure you watch the lectures and take notes. They have one instructor do the weekly lectures for all classes, and he makes it soooooo easy! It's a lot of work, but it's doable! I should graduate in February. I can't wait!

Chamberlain has a new RN-BSN-MSN bridge program. I'm not sure if I want to do it, because I don't see that the MSN program is accredited by CCNE or NLNE (the BSN program is). While I know that my BSN will be accepted by employers and grad schools, I don't know if I want to get an MSN if it won't be usable. Anyone know anything about Chamberlain's MSN program and its reputation?

hello everyone, I am starting 8/30/10 as well taking the same classes, so i just wanted to say hi.

Specializes in med-surg.

Anxious..

Hey everyone, I just printed out my syllabus for both NR 351 and SOC, and feeling a bit uneasy. It seems like a lot of work (and reading!) to do both classes at once. I'm thinking about dropping Soc, and just starting off with Transitions. Any suggestions?

I am almost 54 years old and graduated from a diploma nursing program in 1977. I just enrolled in Chamberlain for the BSN program. I am considering getting an MSN eventually but still undecided about the RN-BSN/MSN bridge.

Any inexpensive way to get books? Aside from employer reimbursements which in the end do not add up to a great deal, I want to keep the program as cost effective as possible.

Any "older" applicants to the Chamberlain program?

Specializes in Psych, Chem Dependency, Occ. Health.

I would try to find the books used. Soc 351 uses an E-book, so does Algebra and Stats. Transitions just uses the APA book, or at least that is all they used last year when I took the class. I am sure you can find the other books used. I bought them new and seriously the only two I actually used were the ones for Leadership and Evidence based practice. Good luck. It was a great program. I'm in an MSN program for FNP now and feel Chamberlain gave me a leg up on research and writing evidenced based papers which really helps in grad school.

I did NR 351, Soc, and HIST 410 my first session, and I was able to earn A's in all three courses. It IS a lot of work, and if you have a full time job and kids, it might be too much, but then again, it may not. Those two classes are pretty tame. Good luck!

I ended up dropping my classes last session. Picked them back up this session. I'm taking Community Health and EBP. I'm having difficulty choosing a population, health concern etc for the Caring for Population project. My brain is in overload. Any suggestions? Next session I'm taking Humanities and Economics and then Capstone!:yeah:

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

I think I did smoking as my health concern.

I remember you mentioning that when I started taking this last session. Did you use a specific group like smoking and women?

Ex navy girl I addressed diabetes for my health concern it was an easy subject :nurse: Karen

I did obesity for mine. Ties in nicely with diabetes.

Specializes in Orthopaedics, Med/Surg Acute Care.

I have been at Chamberlain since March 2009 and am almost finished - only 3 more classes until my BSN!! Wooohooo!:yeah: Then hopefully onto my MSN and a new career. It has been easier than I thought it would be. The secret is to keep up each week with the school work, especially since each class is only 8 weeks long. Good luck!!
