Your pre req gpa....

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I was wanting to start a thread to see what the average gpa is nationwide at the time of your application. I am down in south Mississippi and it seems to be anywhere from a 3.0 to a 4.0.

3.8 overall...4.0 in all the classes that count

Nice! I came in from NOVA with a 3.6. Now, I'll be going back with a 3.5 or so--made the Dean's List this Spring at TCC. I was Phi Theta Kappa up there--got my EMS Certificates and AAS with honors--cum laude, magna cum laude, and summa cum laude.

My overall GPA (all college work) is in the high 2's... but my prerequisite GPA is about 3.6 and almost all coursework since I earned my Bachelor's is actually about 3.8 (only one B and a whole mess of A's). Come to think about it, given the good grades I've gotten recently, it's possible that my overall GPA may have reached a 3.0...

Certainly my last 60 units is above a 3.0 GPA.

I'm older, a lot wiser, and understand my learning style far better now than I did when I first got into college some 18 years ago.

Hi, would anyone mind sharing how many total semester hours your "overall GPA" includes?

4.0 for 36 semester credits at time of application.

4.0 (68 semester credits) after graduation from nursing school.

3.0 prereqs with HESI score of 84%. I'm a "B" student and still managed to secure my seat! I live in a rural area of East Texas and attending community college with an accredited nursing program.

I have a 3.879 gpa. Had a 4.0 until this last semester. Got a B in A&P2. :crying2: My school goes by a point system. A&P 1/2 and micro C=10 points, B=20 points, A=30 points. your TEAS-V counts as is= you get an 89 then you have 89 points. 11 more points are possible for being already enrolled in school, having all pre-reqs done etc. Possible 201 points.

51 hours completed including all electives for Rn with a 3.69. Hesi A2 91% it is very tough all over I think.

Well I am most certainly not too shy to post my GPA because I worked VERY HARD for all the grades that I received! At the time of my application, I had 30 credit hours and a 3.2 overall GPA. 200 applications were received and 80 were chosen. Acceptance letter arrived this past Wed. :yeah:

Specializes in PICU.

3.0 in my pre-reqs. I worked really hard, but I find it so frusterating that I just can't seem to break this glass ceiling to get past the B and on to an A.

Hi everyone I have completed 30 hours and have a 3.6 GPA. My pre req GPA is a 4.0. I was also accepted into Phi Theta Kappa in December and at 43 I am proud of that accomplishment.:) Now just waiting to see if I am accepted into the nursing program.

My school ranks on pre-req GPA (this has the most weight, and it must be 3.0 or better), overall GPA (must be 3.0 or better), and ACT score (must be 21 or better). Pre-req GPA is a 4.0, overall GPA is a 3.53, and ACT score is a 33.

Anywhere between 300-500 people apply each year, and only 75 are taken.

I got in. :)

3.82 for prereqs only, but way less than that for my cumulative.

Right now I have a 3.44, but I have two more classes to take that I will be starting in two days. So hopefully I get A's in them so I can raise my GPA some more.
