Just curious. How old was the youngest mi that you have seen. It seems like they are coming younger and younger.
This young lady was pitiful. She was a preemie weighed less than 2 lbs at birth, but mama felt she need to "fatten" her up. And fatten her up she did! She was as wide as she was tall, and her little heart could not take it anymore.
I was an agency nurse, pulled into the PICU for only one shift. I do not know how or if the little darling made it.
24 year old female.OD'd on alcohol, ibuprofen and cocaine. She survived, but has damage to her heart and her kidneys are 80 years old. Sad. Very sad.
This just happened the beginning of this month. She's my daughter. :stone
I'm very sorry to hear about your daughter. I have a 19 year old son I would be devestated.
Years ago, when I was in the CCU, a 24 year old female, nine months pregnant, rolled in in the midst of a huge anterior wall MI. The cath showed she had a totally occluded left main. She was balloon pumped and whisked to the OR, where the OB delivered the child by ceasarean and the thoracic surgeon performed a bypass. The most interesting case I have seen, both mother and baby survived and went home.

I'm so sorry, Julie. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your daughter.

I had a patient years ago that was 20 years old and she had an MI on the surgery table as a result of a coronary artery spasm. It was theorized that this was a reaction to the anesthetic.
