hello please anyone i need advice badly my situation is i attended a vocational school 5 years ago! for vn in los angeles took nclex just once did not pass. due to some personal problems i did not try taking it again. i know i want to be a nurse:nurse: so know that i am back up on my feet i want to take the nclex-vn but i am afraid i wont pass it since its been so long and i've been told that realistically my rate for passing the test is 20% b/c of the time. some people have told me i would just have to re-take the course again because its been so long but i don't want to if i don't have to. point being i need advice please maybe there is someone who is out there who went through a similiar situation .please help . anyone!!!!!!!!!:cry::cry::cry:

moderators please delete this post

I think that it is quite unfair of you to ask the moderators to delete the original post. This person came here for help as so many of us have before. I think she can learn and appreciate from others stories, especially the SUCCESSFUL ones. There's many of us who have been in her shoes before and have passed after such a long time.

Candy13,

Please take a minute to read a previous thread of mine. If you have any more specific questions, please PM me.

Hi Candy and welcome to the site

Have you contacted the nursing board and checked whether you need to take some sort of course. Alternatively register with the board and devise a study plan or consider Suzanne's plan. She is one of the other moderators here and has had excellent results with her plan and all you need is the latest Saunders book which for you would be the 3rd edition. Here is her plan https://allnurses.com/forums/f197/07-08-revision-suzanne-s-first-tip-314448.html and although it is only the first tip once completed send her a pm with all relevant information as she asks for and she will help you with the next stage. You do need 15 posts to your name to use the pm system but you have waited 5 years so another couple months studying her plan will certainly help.

Good luck

you can do it. it may look like a huge mountain to climb. the thing is you have to start someplace. imho, you should get a a hold of some current review books they have on the market and read them. you will probably surprise yourself with how much information youve retained.

im taking the exam after being out a year. the key to your success is study study study and dont give up. ive read many threads already by those that have not been out of school for years and have failed. point being just because you have been out doesnt mean you will never pass.

get started if this is what you want to do. we all get there some sooner some later but we all get there. good luck and blessings.

Candy13 you can do this!!!

I graduated from nursing school 9 years ago in Europe and just found out today that I passed the NCLEX-RN.

It will take you a lot of studying but you can do it! Passing the NCLEX is a real challenge but it's so rewarding and so worth it. Make the call to your board of nursing and ask them what do you have to do to apply for your test. Go for it, you have nothing to lose!

Good luck!!!

Sorry you feel this way. And what makes you think it's unfair, I didn't say anything wrong? I just didn't want to "start" something like as in a "post" when I can't relate to how she's feeling. I was going to offer advice, but felt like maybe others who can relate more to her situation would offer better advice, so I changed my mind. That's all:)

Hello and thank u for taking the time to reply ,well i got a number to a person who does review classes it is pricy!!!!! but from what i know people travel as far as 100 miles just 2 go to her review classes its unfortunate that skills center or community colleges don't offer these review classes(or atleast idk of any) what do u think ?

Before you do a thing, it is advisable to check with your Board of Nursing. Would do that before starting or considering anything.

Different boards have different requirements, especially if one has tested before. Especially if you have already tested in the past. Would find out from them what you will need to do again.

A review course that is just a few days is not what you should be doing, those are for those that have just graduated from a program and are just doing a few day review.

Would follow Anna's advice to you.

Best of luck.

quitters will not be successful... i/ve been out of nursing for 15 years, 'till i came here in the us 5 years ago, from there, i started reading books of nursing in preparation for nclex-rn exam, i kept on trying taking the nclex-rn exam but wasn't successful enough, i chalenge taking the vn/pn, i passed it 3rd time. last 2006. see, keep on reading, believe me, you will get there. pray, so that you'll be encouraged to go on, it helps... god bless! and good luck! i'll pray for you too...
