"After years of controversy and making parents mistrust vaccines, along with collecting $674,000 from lawyers who would benefit from suing vaccine makers, it was discovered he had made the whole thing up. The Lancet publicly apologized and reported that further investigation led to the discovery that he had fabricated everything.

In the intervening years, millions have been spent on studying this further to see if there was anything that could connect autism and vaccines. This is what they found."

Did you also know that Wakefield ultimately lost his British medical license because of the unethical experiments he performed on disbeled children- including unnecessary and invasive surgeries. He later immigrated to the United states and tried to practice medicine in Florida under an assumed name. His body was recently (some time last year) found in a canal in Florida it is believed he committed suicide.

Andrew Wakefield is still alive, and I don't think he ever worked in Florida or obtained a Florida medical license.

I think this is the person you are referring to. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Bradstreet

Thanks for the link - I believe you are correct though I believe it was intimated that this person was wakefield or in someway associated with him - could have just been the anecdotal connection

(Geez Louise, here we go again...)

Ugh . . . that's exactly what I thought because I've just come from that other thread.

Ugh. :sarcastic:

5 DTAPs, 4 Polios, 3 MMRs, 3 TDs, 3 Hep Bs, and two small pox vaccinations. These are the vaccinations that I am aware of being given and do not count the many that I received at the MEPS. I have been kept safe from horrible diseases thanks to these vaccinations.

I believe that this thread is safe because the OP was transparent in their intentions. The other thread of which you speak was a poorly written slant.

Did I mention that I have been exposed to measles multiple times before I became a nurse? Never once did I get sick. However, there is a "smell" to it that a person never forgets.

I just posted OP's article on another site and one of my friends said "If only the anti vaxx movement would die out already!"

I said, "They may, if they all get the measles."

I wish they could get the diseases they refuse to vaccinate their children against for real, but unfortunately most of the anti-vaxxers were vaccinated as kids. It would be nice if the people that died were the people responsible for the decision not to vaccinate - not the kids too young to speak up for themselves. That's the thing that makes me the angriest about this movement. It doesn't hurt the people that make the bad decisions, it hurts the innocent.

And a leading candidate for the office of President of the United States of America last night kept the issue alive on national television.

Was it Trump?

Didn't watch it. I just watch the highlights the next day. Rarely do I learn anything in the political world. I'll start caring next year when the polls open.

Yes, it was Trump -- I heard it on the NPR coverage this morning (I didn't watch, either). Ben Carson promptly responded that many, many studies have found no connection whatsoever between vaccines and autism, and, of course, Trump immediately started backing away from his statement (as he seems to consistently do -- he says something awful, and, when he gets called on it, he says, oh no, that's not what I meant).

If he gets elected as President, I'm moving out of the country. He's going to start a war because of his uncensored mouth. It's amusing to us, but probably not for foreign diplomats.
