I just got a letter in the mail informing me that that is how long the wait is now. I haven't gotten my number yet. What to do?? I have one pre-req left to go. Should I apply to the LPN program and hope tpo bridge in to the RN program later?? I do not want surgical tech, x ray tech or another field. I want ADN. So frustrating
Yeah i have been in the "waiting room" too! :uhoh21: I have been all done with pre-req's for almost a year now, so i wait Wait WAIT! It is soooo dang frustrating. :angryfire I have applied a total of 4 times! I have applied at another school also, but it's the same story there. I can't even take extra classes to speed things up, i'm all maxed out.
I have thought of the LPN route too, but it's hours are like 60 hrs. a week, plus all school holidays (you know the traditional easter and christmas breaks) and summers. That doesn't work for me since I have 2 school age kids and a husband that's a teacher. Sooooooo i will continue to wait.
And what really twists my undies, is that those darn straight A students slip right in the first time they apply. I wish i was one of those, but noooooooooo.
So you are not alone achooo. Heather
Misery loves company right?

Good to know I am not alone Heather! The thing that sucks is that I am a straight A student, but at the tech school it doesn't matter. C or better, and we are all in the same boat, equal opportunity. Why can't I just get 4 numbers on the powerball, get $100,000 and go to the private school that has no waiting list? LOL :rotfl:

Wow, i can't believe you don't have priority over those C students! and HOW I wish I was one of you! At least you prob feel fairly confident that once you get in, you'll make it throught right? Where do you live? I'm in S. CA and half the applicants go in by grades in pre-req's (once they're done) and half goes in by the waiting list. I checked into the private Univ. nearby, and I couldn't get accepted there, but it's moot anyway, since it is so $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ anyway.

I live in Wisconsin, Madison area. The private schools go by GPA but not the technical colleges. I just don't have the money for it. I have been doing well in my pre-req's, and I have been a medical assistant working in the field for over 10 years, but this is a whole different ball game. I just hope I still have the drive and the ambition in 2-4 years!!
It would be nice if people who had their pre-req's done had precedence, but that's not the case either. I think they may work on changing that. Now we have the have the CNA done before the core nursing classes. The cirriculum is all changing as of January. Who knows how it will be when I start!

We don't get preferential treatment either. GPA doesn't matter...neither does how many classes you've already taken. *sigh*
I've been on the list for just over a year now...got on it in early September 2003. I've got one more pre-req to take after this quarter (pharmacology) and after that...I'm just in limbo. I asked the woman who's in charge of the list (a real piece of work, lemme tell you) and she said I probably won't be starting the program until NEXT September. Grrrr. Irritates the heck out of me...but what can I do. Nothing.
So...you've got my sympathy! There's quite a few of us in the same boat!

Are you sure you aren't in my school Amy? LOL
The lady in charge of my list is the same way
Wow :uhoh21: I'm very surprised to learn that your schools don't consider GPA or classes taken to qualify you for acceptance. That's crazy...no wonder there is such a wait. They are certainly taking their time to weed the people out. That would make me so darn mad to find out some-one got a spot and wasted it by having to leave the program because "nursing wasn't for them", or having hygeine , personal or academic problems while you more qualified people are waiting 2-4 yrs for a chance.
I feel for you .
Good luck, and I'll keep you in my prayers. (I'm praying to get in for this summer.)

Thanks! Yeah, the only weed-out class would be the CNA class. You have to have that, chemistry and algebra finished before you can start the core nursing program. The rest can all be taken along with, although it isn't recommended. Hope you get in for summer! :)
WOW!!!! I am shocked as well. However, I kindof wish the school I'm going to didn't go by GPA.... Wonder if I would have more of a chance to get in? :chuckle
Unfortunately, I am a "B" student, I'll probably end up taking my prereqs over again.......and still have to wait several semesters (years).
I guess waiting that long weeds out some of the "don't really wannas" anyway.

I don't understand it. I got into LPN school the first time (before that I had applied to and was accepted into an ADN program the first time around which I had to decline the offer and go to the LPN school because I couldn't drive 4 hrs. round trip to the classes) and I'm no great scholar.
You folks need to come to Tennessee. The only waiting lists they have are in the BSN programs.
