I've never posted here before but I am going to be applying to Yale School of Nursing this fall for a 2015 start in the GEPN program, CNM/WHNP cohort. Wondering if there are others out there preparing to do the same? I'm heading down to their info session next week.
I would recommend flying into Bradley (the airport in Hartford) and taking the Connecticut Limo down to Orange or New Haven. I don't remember how much the shuttle costs, but it's affordable (maybe about $40). Second to that, I'd fly into JFK or Laguardia and take Metro North into Connecticut.
I'm also trying to decide if it's worth it financially to go in person. Leaning toward the Skype interview
I got an interview too! On the 30th. And I agree, fly into Bradley (the airport near hartford), it's so much easier than dealing with NYC. There's a shuttle to hartford then you can take the megabus to New Haven super cheap.
I would be doing a skype interview if I didn't live in New Haven, 115 is too much! I've used airbnb in New Haven, pm me if you need recommendations.
Also so anyone who wants to can crash on my couch for free, no one should miss out on an interview because of money!
If you take the Metro North train, all you have to do is call the shuttle at 203.281.5470 to come pick you up at the station. I've done it twice now and it's free and very easy. It takes about 20 minutes.
There are also regularly scheduled pick up times from the West Haven Station here: http://westcampus.yale.edu/sites/default/files/files/West-Campus-Schedule-2014-May.pdf
Hi everyone! I just joined allnurses and found this thread. I also got an interview with Yale, and mine is on the 23rd. I seem to be in a similar situation as a few others in that I'm debating a phone vs in person interview. If possible I'd really like to make in person work so I can put a face to my name, but more importantly so I can feel out if I could live in New Haven and handle the weather, etc.
I really don't want to spend another $100+ on a hotel, so right now I'm considering flying into JFK early on the 23rd (overnight red-eye from CA), and then either taking the train or driving up. I looked up rental car prices and it's about $45 for one day, which sounds like it's only slightly more expensive than the train and could get me there (and back) faster. I haven't booked anything yet, but right now I'm leaning towards renting the car for the day, driving from JFK to Yale in the morning and then back to JFK after the program is over to catch a night flight out. I know this sounds crazy, but between my work schedule and cost of hotels, I think it's the only way I can pull off the in person interview. Anyways, like I said I haven't booked yet, but if anyone wants to carpool to or from JFK on the 23rd let me know! Congrats and good luck everyone!

I read about 50%, but Divalicious did the math and it's closer to 40% of total applicants are interviewed.
