Writing in Nursing school

Published

I Just started my first semester of Nursing school, and during orientation the professor passed out a paper entitled criteria for writing a good paper. So my question is how much writing and what type of writing should I be prepared to do? Thanks in advance.

The only paper that has been mentioned so far in my program, is the communication paper.

In my program we have at least one big research paper or project each quarter, and then there are sometimes additional, small essays here and there.

In my first semester, we had a lot of random papers to write. Some that I can remember were like, we had to go to a support group and then write a paper over how what we learned would relate to care we would provide for patients. Then we had to write a paper over our interactions with our patients in the nursing home and whether we used therapeutic communication or not. We also had to write pathophysiology papers with our case studies on our patients' primary diagnoses.

I had to write TONS of essays, research papers and journals. We had a semester ong class on writing papers.

We did quite a bit of writing. Research papers, care plans, research analysis papers, PICO papers (you'll get to that), our community clinical groups had to assesses a community and write a 60+ page paper on it (split between 6 people). There are also multiple group projects throughout the require writing.

Ditto.

So far we have written papers on determinants of health, social deviance, cultural symbols, and diversity.

Each semester, we've had at least one big paper that had to be in APA format. We also have write ups each week on our patients. Plean to do your fair share of writing! :)

Only one APA paper first semester, three in this semester. I guess it just goes up from here. Yay APA. Not.

Second through fifth semester we have to do papers. You either get a S(passing) or a U (failing).

Are you guys talking about the RN- BSN program? I just started my first clinical for the ADN program and I haven't had any writing to do
