Day care is going to be an issue for me too when I am accepted. In any case, CONGRATS!! :biggringi

Congratulations!! Day care is an issue for me as well. I've never put my kids in daycare so i'm very nervous, my son is also diabetic so I worry about being away from him. In a way, an acceptance letter will be exciting, but also a little scary!!

Congratulations and good luck to you. I hope you find a good daycare.

Congratulations, I hope you don't mind to share how you "pulled it off"

:balloons: The competition is so fierce and discouraging for me.

Thanks everyone! You are right...I am excited and scared at the same time. I really didn't think i'd get in since everyone I talked to applied 2 or 3 times.

Lets see...how I pulled it off...I'm trying to think!

I didn't even apply the priority way, just regular. My GRE scores weren't high enough for priority. I have a 1050 and they wanted a 1100.

I have a 3.3 GPA with a B.S. in Chemistry.

I have some work experience as a quality control engineer, lab technician, etc. Maybe that helped?

I volunteered at a hospital in the ER, but only for 2 months.

Prereq grades:

Growth and Development: B

Microbiology: A

Human Physiology: C (1999)

Math: A

Anatomy: still in progress

Statistics: still in progress

I made my essay funny. I wrote about my job at Miller Brewing and related it to an episode of ER.

I also contacted my advisor/helper/person (not sure of her exact title) and kept in contact with her all the time asking questions, making sure I had everything.

I also had an unofficial transcript evaluation just to make sure I was ok coursewise.

Good luck everyone!! If I can get in, you all can get in!!

Specializes in Med-Surg.

Awesome! Congratulations!

Specializes in ICU, PICC Nurse, Nursing Supervisor.

Well bring them to me Ill never get accepted to nursing school. lol

Day care is going to be an issue for me too when I am accepted. In any case, CONGRATS!! :biggringi

If this helps anyone, I got into two nursing programs and this was how my application broke down:

B.S. in Broadcasting and Biology. Took many pre-med classes... med. term. A&P, Genetics, etc. 3.1 CUM GPA from a fairly well ranked school in VA. My GPA would have been around 3.6 had my new college accepted my GPA from my previous college when I transferred over. No GRE's. Two letters of recommendation from my heart doc and my regular family doc who have encouraged me to be a nurse. Essay on moral values in today's society (my writing background probably helped me here).

Heard back in about a month from both schools.

Good luck to everyone!! Epona :p

Congrats!

I forgot to say who my letters of rec were from:

My children's pediatrician who is an officer in the Navy

My boss from Miller Brewing Company

A professor from college

Congratulations!!! That is great!! And don't worry, you'll figure something out with your kids...I have the same problem with my daughter figuring out where she'll do until my husband can pick her up (I also work all day). Don't want to burden anyone!!

Good luck...you'll do great!! And congrats again!!

Specializes in NA.

I am in the same boat with worrying about what to do now that I am accepted, but it is nothing compared to be accepted...

Congradulations!!!! :smiley_aa

It is a wonderful feeling, bask in it for a few days, then figure out your childcare plans and how to juggle the program and life. You've made it this far, so you know you can do it. Remember you have a support network on this board, so use it whenever you need to.
