Would you tell a co worker when you know that the boss is getting ready to "demote" them and on what date?
My boss has hired another nurse to come in and take the place of a friend of mine, but has not told my friend because she wants her to continue working at her position until we get through the state survey.
She then has plans to change her position to floor nurse or ask her to leave. I feel this is wrong on so many levels, and I would want to know if I were in her shoes.
Should I tell her? Not tell her?
"NM has plans to change her position to floor nurse or ask her to leave."NM has plans for you , as well.. you just don't know them yet. Your friend deserves to know the deal. You need to grow some ovaries and get the h*ll out of there.
Stand by your fellow nurse.
Update:
I was told to resign yesterday. AFTER our follow up survey from State.
I have had NO marks on my record, attendance was fine, but she said I "wasn't cut out for management". She told me she was going to write me up for numerous things, and she didn't want that on my record (I am in school for my NP) or I could resign. I asked how much time she needed, and she said none. So I left.
And I told my friend that I knew something was getting ready to happen and to watch her back, but last night, I told her everything.... I have nothing else to lose, eh?
Can't believe it went down like this, but I'm glad it is over.
Is this a co-worker, a friend or a work friend? Your obligations to a BFF are different from your obligations to a co-worker or even a work friend. Unless this person has been your best friend from childhood, I'd stay out of it.
The level of friendship is not the concern. The level of personal ethics is what matters.

Shake it off. Best of luck in your new endeavors, keep us posted.

New job is calling her for a reference tomorrow. I hope she doesn't screw it up for me.
Annnd.... my friend was approached today about being booted to the floor, and apparently she was given an ultimatum that she could not do. So she gave her two week notice. The boss told her that i "wasn't ready for management, and she had plans to let me go earlier, but had to wait for State". Nice to hear, huh?

Wow, so she told you about her plans to demote another nurse and then told that nurse that she had plans to fire you? What a piece of work! Sorry things happened that way but it sure sounds like you are at least out of a crap job.

I wouldn't have her down as a reference...preferable your best friend would've been suited to give a better reference-I would call that potential employer and give your friend's number-with her permission, of course-ASAP.

That's scary! stay out of it. It is the boss job to inform your friend about this matter.
